Andre Gariepy Obituary
Leominster
Father Andre M. Gariepy, 90 passed away on Tuesday, May 25, 2021 in St. Vincent's Hospital, Worcester.
He was born on May 8, l93l, in Leominster, the son of Romeo E. and Yvonne Louise (Beauchesne) Gariepy.
He leaves his one sister, Sr, Paulette Gariepy a sister of the Holy Spirit in Pomfret Center, CT; a cousin, Fr. Robert Gariepy of Shrewsbury and many other cousins
After graduation from Assumption Preparatory School in 1949 he attended Assumption College from 1949 to 1951.
He attended the Seminary of Philosophy and Grand Seminary, Montreal, Canada, from 1951 to 1957 and the Catholic University of America, Washington, D.C., from 1957 to 1958, where he received a degree in Canon Law.
He was ordained on May l5, l958, in St. Paul's Cathedral by Bishop John J. Wright.
He was associate pastor of St. Mary Parish, Spencer; Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish, Southbridge; Immaculate Conception Parish, Fitchburg; Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish, Webster, and Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish, Winchendon.
He was named pastor of St. Anne's Parish, Manchaug, in l978. He then was appointed pastor of Our Lady Immaculate Parish, Athol, on July 1, l981. He was named pastor of Holy Spirit Parish, Gardner, on June 29, 1990. He retired from active ministry on July 1, 2006.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, May 28, 2021 at 1 pm in St. Cecilia's Church 180 Mechanic St., Leominster. Burial will follow in St. Ceciia's Cemetery.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, May 27, 2021 from 4 to 7 pm in St. Cecilia's Church with a vigil service at 7 pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Cecilia's Memorial Fund

I met Fr. Andre when he was assigned to St. Anne's Parish in Manchaug in 1978. He was a great guy who cared deeply for his parishioners. Rest in peace Father.

My family and I met Fr. Andre when he was assigned to Immaculate Heart of Mary In Winchendon. Once you met him, you knew he was a friend forever. Thank you for your service and many years of ministry. Rest in peace.
