Bashir Mehmud Obituary

Bashir Uddin Mehmud, 78 passed away Friday, September 24, 2021, after an illness, at home surrounded by family. Bashir was born in Gujrat, Pakistan, son of Mian Muhammad Din and Ghulam Fatima Din. 

Long time Fitchburg city resident and activist who moved to the city in 1982. Ran for at-large city councillor and ward 4 councillor during his time. Also served as president of the local chapter of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community and marched honorably during the July 4th parades. 

   Worked in General Electric plant Fitchburg for 10 years, which was a cornerstone company for jobs for over 50 years. Afterwards he managed the Drivers Ed program at Shrivers Job Corps for approximately 10 years. He leaves behind his wife Farida Mehmud(69), two sons Raza Mehmud of Gardner, Furqan Mehmud of Fitchburg, a brother Nasir Mahmud of Franklin and 4 grandchildren, Kazim Mehmud (14), Rayyan Mehmud (16), Syeda Furqan (5) and Subuhun Furqan (2). His brother Rashid Uddin Mehmud died in 1957. May God grant him paradise.

Funeral services and burial for Bashir were held on Saturday September 25 in the Bosk Funeral Home 85 Blossom St. Burial was in Forest Hill Cemetery.
