FITCHBURG -- Cecile J. (Deschenes) Leger, 90, 29 Merriam Parkway, formerly of 54 Clearview Ave., died Saturday July 16, at the Leo P. LaChance Center, Gardner after an illness.
She was born in Fitchburg on June 3, 1915, the daughter of the late Philias and Celina (St. Pierre) DesChenes.
She was educated in Fitchburg schools, and worked for the former Tom’s Food World and Anwelt Shoe Co.
Mrs. Leger was a member of Madonna of the Holy Rosary Church, the Ladies Guild at the Church, she was a life member of the YMCA and life member of the Friendship Club. She truly loved her family. Mrs. Leger was also an avid card player.
She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Ronald K. and Patricia Leger of Fitchburg; two granddaughters and one grandson-in-law, Kerri Leger of Leominster, and Kendra and Niel Albero of Fitchburg. She was the wife of the late Albenie J. “Benny” Leger, who died in 1997. She was also preceased by several brothers and sisters and most recently her sister, Antoinette T. Rodriquenz, in 2003.
LEGER -- On July 16, Cecile J. (Deschenes) Leger, 90, of Fitchburg. The funeral will be held Wednesday, July 20, from the Fitchburg Chapel of the Sawyer-Miller-Masciarelli Funeral Home, 129 Elm St., Fitchburg, with a Mass in Madonna of the Holy Rosary Church, 118 Theresa St., Fitchburg at 9 a.m. Calling hours in the funeral home are Tuesday July 19, from 4 to 7 p.m. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, 486 Clarendon St., Fitchburg, at a later date.
