The servant of God, Gregory Anthony Anstine was born on January 11, 2002 in York, PA. He reposed in the Lord on February 4, 2022 after a tragic hiking accident.

He is survived by his father and mother, Anthony and Susan (Ryer) Anstine and his sister Stephanie Anstine, maternal grandparents George and Frances Ryer, paternal grandparents Albert and Georgia Anstine, Jr, uncles and aunts David and Christine Ryer and Christopher and Kate Giovanis, and his beloved cousins Mary Beth, Julia, Andrew, Joseph and Brendan Ryer and Panayiotis, Kassiani, and Seraphima Giovanis.

He was a Sophomore Business Management major at Bloomsburg University, where he consistently achieved The Dean's List. He was a 2020 graduate of West York Area High School, where he was a member of the Soccer Team and a member and co-captain of the Volleyball Team. He was a member of the National Honor Society, The Top 20 of the Class of 2020, and earned scholarships from the West York Foundation and Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church. Greg was an active member of the Annunciation York Community where he faithfully served as an alter boy for 10 years and was a tonsured reader. He held various leadership positions in the church's youth group (GOYA) including president. Spending time at Camp Nazareth, where he formed special friendships, was an important part of Greg's spiritual life. He helped his father run the church's bookstore and was an enthusiastic Greek Food Festival volunteer. He was a Regional, Pittsburgh Metropolis, and National finalist in the St. John Chrysostom Oratorical Festival. He also attended Holy Resurrection of Christ Serbian Orthodox Church in Lebanon, PA. Greg worked at the Olive Garden and most recently at Howe Wood Products.

He loved his family, especially spending time with his grandparents, cousins and godparents. Greg was a loving big brother. He enjoyed the outdoors, music, food, and traveling. Greg was humble, kind, yet confident in his abilities. He was willing to help others, was grounded in his Orthodox faith and was a loyal friend.

Arrangements

A Divine Liturgy will be served at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, February 12, 2022 at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 2500 Pine Grove Road, York, PA, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m., co-celebrated by Reverend Father Andrew Tsikitas – Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, York and Father Borjan Vitanov – Holy Resurrection of Christ Serbian Orthodox Church, Lebanon, PA. A public visitation will be held from 8:00 a.m. -10:00 a.m. Saturday at the church. Burial will be in Mount Rose Cemetery following the funeral service.
