of Ayer
AYER - Harvey L. Flagg, 87, of Ayer, died Saturday, October 13, 2018, at his home. Mr. Flagg was born in Ayer, March 14, 1931, the son of Harvey S. and Leona (Martell) Flagg and graduated from Medford Trade High School, Medford. Mr. Flagg was a career firefighter, serving 26 years at the Fort Devens Fire Department, retiring in 1990. He also served 15 years as a volunteer to the Ayer Fire Department. He leaves his wife of 67 years, Mary C. (Campbell) Flagg, three sons, Harvey M. "Matt" Flagg of Shirley; Mark Flagg of Lunenburg; John Flagg of Ayer; two daughters, Lisa M. Maillet and Pamela J. Caponette both of Lunenburg. He also leaves 14 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. In 2001 he was predeceased by his daughter, Lynne A. Flagg of Ayer and was the brother of the late Ann Murphy of Medford. Mr. Flagg served as the Ayer Tree Warden for 26 years. He was an accomplished equestrian and enjoyed riding his motorcycle and playing billiards. He was a member of St. Mary's Church in Ayer.
FLAGG - A funeral mass will be celebrated 11 am, Friday, October 19, 2018, at St. Mary's Church, 31 Shirley Street, Ayer. Burial will be private. Calling hour will be 4-7 Thursday, October 18th, at Anderson Funeral Home, 25 Fitchburg Rd. (Rte 2A) Ayer. Of Fitchburg, formerly of Ayer, Mark F. Decot, 59, died unexpectedly Wednesday, October 10, 2018, at Health Alliance, Leominster Hospital.
A funeral mass will be celebrated 11:00 AM, Thursday, October 18, 2018, at St. Mary's Church, 31 Shirley Street, Ayer.
