formerly of Fitchburg, MA; 33
SHERMAN OAKS, CA. -- Jared Justin Kamel 33, of Sherman Oaks, California and formerly of Fitchburg, MA. died suddenly in his home after a short illness.
He was born in Fitchburg, MA. the son of Ronald F. and Denise J. (Benoit) Kamel.
He was raised in Fitchburg and was a graduate of St. Bernard's Central Catholic High School Class of 1998. He then went on to attend and graduate from the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, New York. He was a classically trained French Chef.
After his graduation, Jared took his skills to new horizons, working as a chef in Cape Cod, Las Vegas and Los Angeles. He was currently working as a private chef for a predominate family living in the Hollywood Hills of California.
As an active member of his community both here in Fitchburg and in California he would always put others before himself. As a young man Jared was a member of the Boy Scouts of America earning the Eagle Rank and membership in the Order of the Arrow. Jared had also been a volunteer at Camp Sunshine in Casco, Maine. He loved the outdoors, he enjoyed skiing, snowboarding, camping and waterskiing. He was always smiling and was ready with a hug for everyone. He was a son , grandson, brother, uncle and good friend.
He is survived by his parents, Ronald F. and Denise (Benoit) Kamel of Fitchburg, MA., his brother Jason Kamel and his wife Nicole of Gardner, MA., two nephews, Nathan and Kameron and several cousins, aunts and uncles.
KAMEL -- His funeral Mass will be held on Saturday December 22, 2012 with a Mass at 11a.m. in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 81 Sheridan St., Fitchburg, MA. Inurnment will be held at a later date. Calling hours at the funeral home are Friday evening from 6 until 8p.m. In lieu of flowers donations in Jared's memory may be made to the Culinary Institute of America Scholarship Fund, 1946 Campus Drive, Hyde Park, New York 12538 or to Camp Sunshine, 35 Acadia Rd., Casco, Maine 04015.
The Lavery Chartrand & Alario Funeral Home, 99 Summer St., Fitchburg, MA. is directing arrangements.

You are both in my thoughts at this anniversary time. Jamie has been gone for ten years, but I still remember well his friendship with Jared. It was a gift to have them both as long as we did. Now the memories are especially dear. God bless you at this difficult time.

Jason and Mr. and Mrs Kamel,
I have such fond memories of Jason at STB and starting up his restaurant work on John Fitch Highway. He was always so excited about what he was learning in culinary school. He was a very gentle and kind young man. I am so sorry for your pain over losing him much too soon. He and all of you are in my prayers.
