John H. "Jack" Kendall
of Leominster; 67

LEOMINSTER -- John H. "Jack" Kendall, 67, died October 16, 2016, at HealthAlliance Leominster Hospital, after an illness.

Jack leaves one brother, Robert E. Kendall of NY; two sisters, Mary Jane Williams of Southbridge and Kathleen M. Kendall of CA; seven nieces and nephews, Jennifer Nielsen, Melanie Kendall, Jodi Beth Tretheway, Scott Williams, Jessica Rooke, Lauren Tourigny, Brennagh Tourigny; and many grandnieces and grandnephews.

Jack was born in Westfield, MA, on December 23, 1948, a son of the late David C. and Madeleine (Lavoie) Kendall.

He was a parishioner of St. Leo's Church in Leominster. Jack's passion was being a member of the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts of America. He was a lifelong member, and was a Vigil member of the Order of the Arrow. In addition, he received many scouting awards including the Silver Beaver Award, Bronze Pelican, the Scoutmaster Award of Merit, and the Bennett Merker Award. For many years Jack served as Scoutmaster for Troop 823, a troop for boys and young men with disabilities in Fitchburg. Jack was loved by all who met him; he touched every person he met. He could often be found eating breakfast with friends at the Family Café in Fitchburg.

KENDALL -- Jack's funeral will be held on Friday, October 21, 2016 from the Smith-Mallahy-Masciarelli and the Fitchburg Chapel of the Sawyer-Miller-Masciarelli Funeral Homes, 243 Water Street, Fitchburg, MA with a Mass at 11:00 a.m. at St. Leo's Church, 128 Main Street, Leominster, MA 01453.

Burial will follow in St. Leo's Cemetery, Leominster, MA.

Calling hours will be on Thursday, October 20, 2016 in the funeral home, from 4:00 - 7:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Jack's name to Boy Scout Troop 823, care of Ken Lavoie, 2 Elmwood Ave., Leominster, MA 01453 or may be left at the funeral home.

I remember Jack from our Burbank Hospital days...he also knew my husband Budd as kids...Jack was always smiling and willing to help anyway he could. Sad to hear of his passing.

Having worked at Camp Wanocksett for many years, I've gotten to know Jack from his yearly week at summer camp. There is simply no one with a bigger heart than Jack. Camp will not be the same without him, and we will work to honor his memory at a place he loved so much.
