Paul Roy Obituary

Fitchburg

Paul Roy, 84, of Fitchburg, passed away peacefully on September 19, 2022 at home surrounded by his loving family.

Paul was born in St. Marie, NB, Canada, on April 28, 1938, the first son of the late Alyre and Marie (Bastarache) Roy. Paul spent his career working in contracting, eventually owning Roy Brother's Siding for over 25 years. He found great pleasure in tinkering around the house with projects and working around the yard. Paul was an avid hockey fan, rooting for his favorite team, the Montreal Canadiens. Every summer Paul always looked forward to vacationing in New Brunswick with his wife and family.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Doris (Bastarache) Roy; three children, Paulette Roy-Tata of Fitchburg, Steven Roy and wife Carla of Baldwinville, Nelson Roy of Winchendon; grandchildren, Christopher, Monique, Lillian, Zachary, and Nicholette; siblings, Ida Boucher and husband Paul of Fitchburg, Leo Roy and wife Maria of TN, Victor Roy and wife Diane of Leominster, Florence Henrie and husband Ernest of Fitchburg, Denise Roy and husband Bernard of Leominster, Ronald Roy and wife Denise of Leominster; many nieces and nephews.

Paul was predeceased by his brother Roger Roy.

The Roy Family would like to thank the HealthAlliance Home Health and Hospice Organization for their exceptional support and commitment to Paul's care. We will be forever grateful for the compassion and dignity that was provided to him during his final months.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 28th at 11:00am in the Pieta Chapel at Saint Joseph Cemetery, 486 Clarendon St., Fitchburg. Brandon Funeral Home, Fitchburg is assisting the family.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to HealthAlliance Home Health and Hospice, 60 Hospital Road, Leominster, MA 01453 or the Alzheimer's Foundation of America.

I remember my cousin Paul when I was young and loved visiting his family on the farm. He had a great name, of course, and being the oldest and having a pretty imposing physique, he commanded respect and being listened to. I loved him and all of you.
