Viola Mitchell Obituary
LEOMINSTER -- Viola "Vi" May Mitchell; 75, a recent resident of Leominster, died Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2012, in the home of her sister, after an extended illness.
She leaves two sons, James Mitchell of Leominster, and Vincent Mitchell of Brooklyn, NY; one daughter, Wattolga Mitchell of Brooklyn, NY; two brothers, Tyrone "Huck" Mitchell of Brooklyn, NY, and former Fitchburg Police Officer, Augustine "Gus" "Pie" Mitchell of Haverhill, MA; two sisters, Dorothy "Dot" "Dottie" Mitchell of Leominster, and Virginia Stewart Key of Cumberland, Kentucky; four grandchildren, Jerome, Malcolm, Martin, and Lineyah Mitchell, all of Brooklyn, NY; and several nieces, nephews and friends.
She was predeceased by a sister, Wychetta (Mitchell) Sherrell Hammonds, who died in 2007, and one brother, Alphonso S. "Mitch" Mitchell who died in 2010.
Vi graduated from Byrd-Prillerman High School in Amigo, West Virginia in 1957.
After her retirement from the New York School System in Brooklyn, NY, she was employed as a Supervisor at the Fink Ram Corporation in Brooklyn. She enjoyed Bingo, and was an avid New York Mets fan.
She was born in Price Hill, West Virginia, on November 14, 1936, a daughter of the late James C., and Mildred M. (Smith) Mitchell.
MITCHELL -- A Time of Remembrance will be celebrated on Wednesday, October 17, at 1:00 p.m. in the Smith-Mallahy-Masciarelli and Fitchburg Chapel of the Sawyer-Miller-Masciarelli Funeral Home, 243 Water St., Fitchburg. Interment will be private and there are no calling hours. See www.masciarellifamilyfuneralhomes.net for further information.
