William "Buddy" Wylie Mahaffey INDIAN LAND - William "Buddy" Wylie Mahaffey, of Indian Land, S.C., passed away Tuesday, July 22, 2014, at CMC Main in Charlotte, N.C. Born in Indian Land, S.C., he was the son of Clarence and Pauline Mahaffey. Buddy loved to work in his yard, loved to hunt and fish, and loved his dog, LuLu. He was a member of Center Grove Freewill Baptist Church of Waxhaw, N.C., and an Army veteran and was retired from Schlafhorst Textiles. Buddy was preceded in death by his daughter, Teresa Mahaffey. He is survived by his wife Helen Marcene Mahaffey; two sons, John Mahaffey of Fort Mill, S.C., and Tim Mahaffey of Indian Land, S.C.; two daughters, Delores Long and husband, Benji and Deborah Boatwright and husband, Mike, all of Indian Land, S.C.; three brothers, J.C. Mahaffey of Indian Land, S.C., Harvey Mahaffey of Kissimmee, Fla., and Clifford Mahaffey of Fort Mill, S.C.; and one sister, Kay Hensley of Indian Land, S.C. He had seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, July 24, at Center Grove Freewill Baptist Church of Waxhaw, N.C. Visitation will be immediately before from 1 to 2 p.m. Interment will follow at Center Grove Freewill Baptist Cemetery, 7034 Henry Harris Road, Lancaster, S.C.
