James Ninehouser Obituary

James Ninehouser (1936-2025)

James Ninehouser, 88, of the Florida Keys, passed away peacefully in 2025. Born in 1936 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, he was the ninth of ten children. James lived a life defined by service, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to his family and community.

A proud Navy veteran, James served during the Korean War, stationed aboard the U.S.S. Coral Sea, where he exemplified courage and dedication. He was also a proud member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), honoring his service and supporting fellow veterans. In the 1970s, James moved to Florida, later settling in the Florida Keys in 1980. There, alongside his beloved lifetime partner of 47 years, Mary Mosher, he co-founded Ninehouser Appliance, a business that became a cornerstone of the Upper Keys community.

James was a beloved figure in the Upper Keys, where he helped found the Upper Keys Rotary Club, contributing to its mission of service and community betterment. His leadership and generosity left a lasting impact on the region.

James is survived by his lifetime partner, Mary Mosher; his son, Jimmy Ninehouser III and his wife, Breana, and their two children, Bairet and Lainey; his daughter, Sharon Ninehouser; his son, James Ninehouser Jr.; as well as numerous grandchildren, nieces, and nephews who will carry his legacy forward. He is also survived by his sister, Mary Meeks, of York, Pennsylvania.

Known for his warmth, strong work ethic, and deep love for his family and community, James leaves behind a legacy of kindness and service. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

A celebration of James's life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Upper Keys Rotary Club or the VFW in his memory.
