I missed his funeral -- in bed with the 24-hour flu, or food poisoning, or God knows what. Doug would have said, with that big smile on his face: "OK Raymond, just for that, I'm going to miss yours!"

We met 45 years ago while in the early stages of our respective businesses. He introduced me to so many prospective customers who had the same joy of life and family, and respect for nature, that he did.

Doug always saw the good in people.
His constant smile, good humor and honesty are sorely needed in this turbulent time in our lives.

For those of you who could not attend the memorial service for Doug in McLean Va., December 17, It was a wonderful celebration of a man's life as His family and friends shared some of the wonderful memories Doug had given them. It was also a homecomming for those of us who work in the Bio Medical Research field and reflect on how we were impacted by this tower of a man.

I learned something that day that will stay with me until I see Doug again in eternity. When our time comes to pass from this life, our achievements and success will be measured
by the lives that we touched, and the legacy
that we leave behind for those to remember.

Doug you touched our lives and we are greatful for that! Your Legacy will live on.

I was so sorry to hear of Doug's passing. He will be greatly missed by myself, his family, and his hundreds of friends.

I have such great memories of our times together, the ski trips to Europe, golfing in Myrtle beach and racketball games in Maryland. Doug's great sense of humor and almost perpetual smile will be missed most of all

Doug was a wonderful person and will be missed by all who knew him. Doug invited me to fish with him on a couple of occasions and he and Gail warmly invited me to their home. We will mis him.

A mentor, more than a friend, like a brother, a man who I could trust and count on, no matter what the circumstances.
This space is far to small to share my feelings about this wonderful guy. I had the honor and pleasure of working along side Doug at both Lab Products, and Systems Engineering when he returned to our industry several years ago.

He had a smile and stature that would light up a room, especially when Gail was by his side. No matter what the circumstances, Gail was always there to support Doug . Their Love for each other and their Faith in God in the midst of life’s challenges, was an example for both Colleen me.

His family and friends were “NUMBER ONE” in his life. They were the true measure of his success. This man placed a high value on people, recognizing that his business and career would not exist without them. He always had a way of making you feel important. He leaves behind a legacy in our industry of respect and honesty, he will be missed by all that knew him.

Thanks Doug, for all the wonderful memories and the impact that you had on my life and my family. It’s worth is far greater than gold.

Meeting

Doug some 32 years ago changed the direction of my life and for that I will

be ever indebted to him. Doug was a real gentleman who was loved and admired

by those that came into contact with him. He and Gail certainly were a wonderful

couple who always made you feel welcome in their company. Don and I will

miss Doug but are thankful for the years we so enjoyed him and all the

memories we can look back upon.

There are not words to express how much Doug & Gail's friendship has meant to us over the years. The good times & trips will often be remembered with much love. Doug was one of the most loving & giving individuals we will ever have had the pleasure of calling our friend. Our thoughts & prayers are with Gail & all the rest of his wonderful family. We only find comfort in knowing his pain has come to and end & we will one day meet again. Ann & D.P. Hughes
