Raymond Wingo Obituary

Raymond G. Wingo, 83, left us too soon on August 21, 2012, leaving his wife, Wanda; daughters, Daneen Cody and Courtney Wingo; and grandsons, Logan and Ian Cody, to mourn his passing. Also mourning our loss are many dear nieces and nephews, friends, and his beloved dog, "Buddy".

Ray was the 4th of 5 sons born to Elizabeth and Leo Wingo in War, WV. He retired from the Air Force after tours in Korea and Viet Nam. He was a fire inspector during the early construction days of Walt Disney World, then worked at KSC Fire Services under Boeing and Wackenhut.

Ray will be remembered by family and friends for his positive outlook and special sense of humor.

A Celebration of Life will be held later with those who will help us remember the good times.

Special heartfelt thanks to all at Wuesthoff Hospice House for helping make this sad journey more bearable.

Please sign Ray's guestbook at www.atlanticmortuary.com.

It's been 13 years and still not a day goes by that I don't think of him and miss him. Today on the anniversary of your passing on.. I started my car at 5am and blasting from the radio was Bad Bad Leroy Brown... remembering you and I dancing and singing in the front room to that record hit me like a ton of bricks. We were a the best of buddies. Life has not been that same for us crows since 2012. They say time heals all wounds but some days the scars of loss are deeper than time can heal completely. Miss and Love You A whole world full, a whole whole sky full and a billion rabbit pens full

It's been 7 long years since this wonderful man left our lives...we all miss him like it happened this year. I guess life does go on but it's not nearly as cheery and bright as when he was here with us. It's true we do have a lot of wonderful memories that we cling to but it's just not the same as being able to give someone a hug. We prayerfully, hopefully look forward to the day when we can all be reunited in that land when we'll never know the pain of being parted again. We love you, ole poop...Wanda

Ray was like a grandfather to me and will be forever missed. His awesome sense of humor and outlook on life always brightened any day. God truly did gain himself another angel. While I truly miss him, I know that he is in a better place looking down on us all, proud and smiling. R.I.P. "Good Ol' Roy"
