Ruth Buggs Obituary

Melbourne, FL
Ruth Alma Stepney Buggs, 86 of Melbourne, passed away quietly at her home on Thursday December 19, 2013. She is the mother of Jesse Buggs, Jr., Jennifer Buggs, William Buggs, Bruce Buggs, John Buggs (deceased), and Barbara Buggs. Ms. Buggs was a member of the Piper-Gordon American Legion No. 191 for 50 years, a member of the Queen Esther Chapter #98, Order of the Eastern Star and a faithful member of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church. She was the first youth president of the Brevard County Chapter of the NAACP and traveled extensively with its founding president, Harry T. Moore.
Visitation will take place on Thursday, December 26th, from 5-7PM at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church in Melbourne. A celebration of life will take place on December 27th, at 2PM at the church. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Buggs Funeral Home.

Jesse & family... I thought I had registered my sympathies earlier but since I cannot find them in the Guest Book, I will try again. Although I never met your mother, I felt I knew her from your descriptions of her. I saw her as a woman of class and strength. .... Remember the time you returned home from Howard for the holidays. As soon as you entered the front door and put you suitcase on the floor, your mother said: "Jesse. You need to go to the beach. Your father & some friends need you -- RIGHT AWAY." You remember what was waiting for you at the beach!
We pray that you and your family have been sustained through this process by your faith, friends, & family. I am sure that "Miss Ruth" will speak so proudly of you when she meets your father at the Heavenly Gates.

I was so sorry to hear about the passing of your mom. I met your sweet and lovely mom many years ago, and I know how much you loved and adored her. Losing a mom takes time to process. My Dearest Mrs. Buggs,
I was saddened to hear of your passing. I have fond memories of spending time with you over the years. Whenever Bruce and I talked; I inquired of your whereabouts. Ever since I had the pleasure of meeting and getting to know you, you were alwyas on the move. It was a pleasure getting to know you from the days of serving my apprenticeship at Buggs Funeral Home.
