David Dornford Obituary
Funeral Services and Burial at Sampson Veterans Memorial Cemetery will be held at the convenience of the family.
Contributions, in his memory may be made to Veterans for Peace or Dimitri House, 102 S. Union St., Rochester, NY 14607.
David was born in Paramaribo, Dutch Guiana and has been a resident of this area for many years. He was the son of the late Cecil and Florence dela Fuente Dornford. He served his country in the US Air Force and was a counselor for the Veterans Administration in Rochester.
He did volunteer work for Veterans for Peace and for the Ghandi Institute.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Beverly Young Dornford; his sons David (Christine) Edson of Seneca Falls, William (Amanda) Dornford of Rushville and Mark Dornford, USAF in Germany and Jason Dornford of Rochester; his daughters Heather Maynard of Palmyra and Emily Dornford, of Calif.; his brother, Robert (Barbara) dela Fuente of Mass.; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his three brothers George, Ernie and Kenny.

David was a remarkable, complex, and humane man who made an enormous impression upon my life. We shared some wonderful times; thus, it hurts my heart that I´ll not get to see him again in this realm. What I am left with is his belief in the mystical nature of all things and, despite the world´s indignities, that we are all united by a web of intricate beauty. His spirit reverberates through his actions and those he touched. David, you are missed!

How very sad that uncle David is not amongst us anymore.
I am grateful and thankful that in my adult life I was able to spend some time with uncle David over Thanksgiving a couple of years ago.
I got to know him as a socially engaged, gentle, mild and very generous person.
He will be missed by many loved ones.
Our sympathy and condolences for you all.
Rest in peace uncle David and say 'Hi' to Dad from me!

I can remember when I met David through a friend, (Pamela) with whom I will be forever grateful. David was very kind, caring and loving. He was very passionate when it came to the well being of others. David will be sorely missed. I love and miss you David.

So sad to hear the news David passed away. Luckily we spent some time together on Thanksgiving 2019. We cherish the moments and talks with him. Such a kind and gentle man! Our deepest condolences to his loved ones. Love and strenght from the Dornfords from Holland: Kenny´s wife and daughters. May he rest in peace. Love him forever!
