Delos Dann Obituary
Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. Monday (July 17) at the Kenneth J. Perkins Funeral Home in Gorham. A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday (July 18) at the Benton Fire House, 932 Rte. 14A, Penn Yan, NY 14527.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wilmot Cancer Center, 601 Elmwood Ave., Rochester, NY 14642.
Delos was a 1965 graduate of Middlesex Valley Central School, and a 1969 graduate of Cornell University. He owned and operated Dannroving Farm in Potter until 1987. Delos attended Auctioneer School in Missouri in the 1960's and operated Dann Auctioneers for the past 46 years. He was a dairy supply provider of I.B.A. from 1992 until 2015.
Delos was a member and past-president of the NY Steam Engine Association. He was an avid toy tractor collector. Delos volunteered his time for many benefit auctions for the community.
Delos is survived by his wife, Diane Moore Dann; daughter, Heather (Aaron) Perkins of Altona, NY; two sons Jeff (Christy) Dann of Branchport, N.Y., and Darren (Nicole) Dann of Rushville, N.Y.; eight grandchildren, Jacob and Lincoln Perkins, Ryan and Rachel Dann, McKenna Campbell-Fox, Kaden Sapp, Skylar Dann and Treyton Dann; six brothers and sisters David (Patricia) Dann of Indiana, Douglas (Hilke) Dann of Canada, Nancy Dann of Rochester, Marilyn (Michael) Arman of Honeoye Falls, Duane (Valonda) Dann of Texas and Daryl (Catherine) Dann of Canada; brother-in-law, David Moore of Canandaigua, N.Y.; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Delos was predeceased by his parents Delos R. Dann, Sr. and Alice Murray Dann; brother, Donald Dann; and sisters Linda Dann and Maureen Dann.

I was so sorry to hear about Delos. We were students together at Cornell and worked at the Warren Farm. He was always very supportive and had a great sense of humor-just a great guy. I am glad I got to reconnect with him a few years ago. Rest in peace my friend.

Jason and I are so sorry for your loss. Delos was so knowledgeable about tractors. He and his commentary at the Steam Pageant will be sadly missed! The tractor pulls were like a mini history lesson, thanks to him! RIP Delos.

Delos's family operated a dairy farm near our family farm in Horseheads, NY.(1950's) I was delighted to again meet up with Delos perhaps 20 years ago, at an antique and farm toy auction. I will always treasure my time with him, and our mutual interests in old farm toys. His honesty and sincerity has been a hallmark of honor for which he will always be remembered. I just reviewed photographs of Delos and his toy collection over the years, and will have them reproduced for his family. My wife Nancy and I tearfully recall and will eternally treasure the joy he brought to our lives. Our deepest sympathy to his family.

Dear Diane and family,
The passing of Delos leaves many in the farming and old iron collector region broken hearted. He was a real gentleman loved by all. As a director of our IHCC NYS Chapter 35 club of which Delos took much pleasure in being a member, I shall miss his phone calls and friendship. His honesty and expertise as an auctioneer and collector will never be equaled. I have posted a few of my favorite photos of Delos for all to see.
