Donald Graham Obituary

ARVADA, Colo./GENEVA -Donald H. Graham, passed away on April 29, 2022 with loving family by his side.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday (July 30, 2022) at St. Stephen's Church with interment to follow in St. Mary's Mausoleum.

Donations in his name may be made to Our Lady of Peace Parish.

Don was born in Rochester, N.Y. on May 30, 1932, the youngest of eight children. He was always proud of the fact that his birthday was Memorial Day.

Don enjoyed watching Bills football, Yankee baseball, Warriors basketball and Rory McIlroy golf, playing euchre and of course, telling stories. He was a devoted and active member of Our Lady of Peace parish and truly understood how important family, friends and faith were in life.

Don rarely wasted a day, or an opportunity, to find the six degrees that separate any particular listener from the Graham family (sorry Kevin Bacon). Spending countless hours with family and friends, nothing made Don happier than to talk about, or watch, the people close to him doing what they love in life...no matter what it was. He lived a rich, full life providing a quietly, (and sometimes loudly), powerful example to those around him, that sometimes life is going to act like a big brother and throw your autographed Babe Ruth ball into Lake Ontario. "It's what you do next that matters. You can let it get you down (and bring those close to you down as well) or you can keep going, keep strengthening the bonds with those you love, keep forming new connections and watch your life continue to be worth living. Every. Single. Day". We love you forever and we'll miss you Don, Dad, Flash, Pa, Old Pa.

He is survived by his children, Barbara Sweeney of Colorado, Douglas (Kathy) Graham of South Carolina and Gregory (Cathy) Graham of Syracuse; grandchildren, Timothy (Lisa) Sweeney, Meghan (Chris Fera) Sweeney, Jessica Sweeney, Sarah (Daniel) Marino, Patrick (Meghan) Graham, Donald (Paulina) Graham, Eric, Cory, Christopher, Colin and Nicholas Graham; great-grandchildren, Lyla, Lucy and Donald Graham, Henry Sweeney, Dominick and Oliver Marino and Ronan and Sullivan Fera; beloved daughter-in-law, Mary Beth Brendel; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his wife, Joyce (2008); and son, Donald (1998).

I loved hearing Don's stories when he came into the office where I worked. Don was so proud of his children and grandchildren! I'm so sorry for your loss.

This was a truly excellent Catholic man. Always respected him. I'm sure his family will miss Don, but I like the odds for Heaven.
