Eleanore Fillingham Casey

OVID/GENEVA - Eleanore Fillingham Casey, age 93, formerly of Ovid and a resident of Seneca Lake Terrace, died on Wednesday (May 26, 2021) at Geneva General Hospital, following several years of declining health.

A graveside service will be held privately in Canoga Cemetery in Seneca Falls.

Eleanore was born in Canoga on May 11, 1928, a daughter of the late Lester and Dorothy (Mansell) Fillingham. She was a graduate of Mynderse Academy in Seneca Falls, and had worked as the book keeper at Moore's Furniture Store in Waterloo for many years. She and her husband, Bill Casey had lived in Seneca Falls, Romulus, Varick, and spent several years in California before returning to build a new home in Ovid. They were active members of UCE (Upstate Citizens for Equality) and the American Legion Post in Ovid.

She is survived by her sons Philip (Kathy) Knapp of Varick and Paul (Kate) Knapp of Paso Robles, Calif.; a stepdaughter, Margaret (Brenda) Casey-Raicer of Medford, Ore.; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Eleanore was preceded in death by her husband, William "Bill" Casey in 2014; her son, Kevin Knapp in 2019; and by a sister, Betty Gustafson Jones.
