Evelyn Devaney Obituary
Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. at the DeVaney-Bennett Funeral Home, 181 N. Main St., Geneva on Thursday (September 13). Prayer services will be at 9:30 a.m. on Friday (September 14) in the funeral home and at 10 a.m. in St. Stephen's Church. Entombment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery Mausoleum.
Memorial contributions in her memory, may be made to Our Lady of Peace Parish.
Evelyn was born in Hop Bottom, Pa. on January 2, 1929 to Kenneth and Anna Robinson Pratt. She graduated from Hop Bottom High School, in 1946 where she was a member of the band and track team. She graduated from Freeman Business School in 1947 and formerly worked for the NYS Health Dept. in Geneva, the Geneva School district and retired from the Finger Lakes Times. She was a member of St. Stephen's Church, St. Stephen's and St. Francis choir, the Finger Lakes Choral, Hobart College and Community Choral and the funeral choir at St. Stephen's. She raised her family of nine children and was active in the lunch program, sewing, quilting, making alterations for McCurdy's, Barbie Clothes and Cabbage patch clothes.
She is survived by her children Cheryl (Jesse) Rodriquez of St. Paul Minn., Gary (Cindy) Devaney of Geneva, Janice Devaney of Geneva, David (Gosol) Devaney of Fredericksburg, Va., Donald Devaney of Geneva, Beth (Thomas) Hrim of Rome, N.Y., Lynn (Rudy) Gomez of Gilbert, Ariz.; son-in-law, Lenny Gaetano of Peckville, Pa. and daughter-in-law, Judith Devaney of Sarasota Fla.; 19 grandchildren Paul (Ericka) Krause, Brian (Laurie) Krause, Amanda Rodriquez, James (Christine) Devaney, Scott Devaney, Mark Devaney, Michael Devaney (Lorrie), Mary Anne Devaney, Christopher Devaney (Jesse), Jennifer Harper (Mike), Goeffrey Husk (Rebecca), Alyssa Grissom (Chase), Morgan Devaney, Michaela Devaney, Ashley Hrim, Josh Hrim, Malayna Gomez, Jeremy Gomez, Adam Gomez; 18 great-grandchildren Brian, Christian, Joshua Krause, Victoria Krause, Owen, Neila, Keeghan Devaney, Riley, Reagan, Rory, Devaney, Alana, Adan Devaney, Rose and Grace Devaney, Greyson and Landon Husk, BraeLyn Harper and Ashilei Turner; her brother, James (Mary) Pratt of Hop Bottom, Pa.; and her sisters Elizabeth Myers of Ariz. and Bernice (John) Palmer of Hop Bottom Pa.; her sister-in-law, Patricia Pratt of Hop Bottom, Pa.; several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Edward P. Devaney; her daughter, Gail Devaney; and her son, Alan Devaney; her brother, Keith Pratt and her brother-in-law, Philip Myers.

Growing up in the late 60s and early 70s included many fun trips to Aunt Evelyn's house in Geneva to play with all my Devaney cousins. Those trips also included joint family camp outs at Seneca Lake State Park, and minor league baseball games in Geneva. I relish those memories of growing up, made possible by Aunt Evelyn and Uncle Eddy. I will always remember you. God Bless you and all your family.

To the family members of Evelyn, our deepest condolences go out to you at this very sad time. Your Mother was Blessed with a wonderful family, many talents, a kind heart that was filled with love for you all. She will truly be missed, but her light will shine in all our hearts!
