Uncle Mike, trying not to smile when I snuck up on him with a camera

Hey, Uncle Mike.
As a teenager, I remember your wild party stories, making me laugh till my sides hurt, and the gross-in-a-can't-look-away trick you would scare me with: pushing your 4 false front teeth out (that I'm pretty sure you lost in Rugby game.). Growing up I also remember some very heartfelt conversations we had about family, growing up, and choices we make in life. As an adult, I look back on those times and am grateful to you for the honesty, courage, and no nonsense wisdom you shared with me. I will also remember with a smile that you lived life on the edge, tested mortality more than most. I am still in shock at your passing, but if there are highways in Heaven, I know you are up there refusing to drive 55! Cheers and love, Mike, always, Kary.

To our Great Uncle Mike,
We didn't get a chance to meet you, but Nana (your sister) loved you very much. She will tell us about how you loved life, how you took pride in whatever you were doing, and how you were very loyal to your friends and family. She will show us pictures of you and Granddaddy and Grandma, as well as our great aunt Judy and great uncle Chuck. She will tell us stories of when you were little, when you and she were "twins" even tho you weren't twins, like us! We hope that you keep us in your prayers and put in a good word with God, so that He and the rest our families in Heaven continue to watch over us, and help us to get stronger and healthier. We hope that we can become the best people possible, and make you all proud of us! Rest in Peace, Uncle Mike! We love you!

Decades too soon. Alot of history to remember. Where ever the wings drop you off, you'll still wonder what it would do if you could put a turbo on it.And, by God , you were right. Nothin in that rear view mirror was going to pass you. I love you , Mike. When I see you again, I'm sure there still won't be any brake marks. Say hi to Mom and Dad for us.

Mike, I remember so vividly when we were young...It was winter time and you, Peggy and I went for a walk to the pond at the back of our property in Churchville, Maryland...this small pond had a small patch of water that the ducks would swim in...you wandered too close to the water and fell in! I can still see your little face staring at me through the ice at the rim of the water...There is no other explanation other than the Good Lord guided my actions and I reached in and pulled you out of the freezing water...How I did it without falling in (after all, we were both tiny preschoolers and you were wearing a snow suit which was obviously soaking wet) is a mystery...It was definitely NOT your time to leave this world, and I am honored to have been the one to keep you here with us...We often spoke of that time, and it always made me so proud that you credited me with saving your life. Even though we didn't see each other often in recent years, the connection was always there...we were as close as siblings could be, and always shared a bond, a strong love, which I miss dearly, and will for a long time. I enjoyed running into you when Joe and I were taking walks while you were at Hobart, painting...we would visit for a bit...I always looked for you when we walked...and I think that I will look for you there for quite a while...You were a special man and took a lot of pride in a job well done...You were also one of the most loyal people that I know. I am so proud to be your sister, your "twin" and I thank God that Ginny came back into your life and that you knew the love and contentment that you always deserved. RIP Mike...I will always love you!

Mike...I have so many memories of you right now...it's like a kaliedoscope. Despite our military gypsy upbringing(or rather...because of that),we were a close knit family. We were always there for each other. I hope you knew just how much you were loved. I will miss you always. And,Ginny...yes,his spirit..his presence will be with all of us...especially you...that's for always. God Speed,my brother...I love you. Patty

Dear Mike,
It seems only fitting that I write this to you on Saint Patrick's Day. Wherever your spirit takes you:
May green be the grass you walk on,
May blue be the skies above you,
May pure be the joys that surround you,
May true be the hearts that love you.
Love and blessings to you always Mike-

Buggy & I shared the same birthday, 02/02/54 and a lot of great memories growing up in our high school years at Romulus and in McDougall. He is truly a free spirit whose light has dimmed but still remains in all of us that knew him. From this day forward & until my last I will raise a glass in his memory on Ground Hog's Day. God's speed my friend.

Bugs will be missed by all that knew him. There are tons of fine memories of partying and the times at Harris's beach fishing and just hanging out. RIP Brother.
