Janice Lenz Obituary

ISELIN, N.J/SENECA FALLS - Janice Gail Lenz, 86, passed away on Sunday (March 20, 2022) at Center for Hope Hospice in Scotch Plains, New Jersey after complications due to Parkinson's Disease.

Janice was born on November 2, 1935 in Manchester, N.H., daughter of John E. Baker and Vera Tierney. The Baker family resided in Hudson, N.H. Janice was the youngest of four children and graduated from Alvirne High School in 1953. She loved Hudson, and was very proud of her family's involvement in the town's history. Her family lived on Baker Street in Hudson, named after the Baker family name.

In 1958, Janice married George Edward Lenz of Wilton, N.H. and relocated to Seneca Falls, N.Y., where she spent her time caring for her family, working as a part time secretary for Sanderson Services funeral home and later, Finger Lakes Home Health Care. As for community involvement, in the mid-1970's, she became a proud, active member of North Seneca Ambulance serving as dispatcher, ambulance driver, EMT assistant and Board of Director's. She also became involved other local charitable organizations, such as the American Heart Association and House of Concern Food Pantry.

Janice is survived by her daughters, Sharon (Lenz) Burke of Clark, N.J. and Alison Lenz of Greenbelt, Md.; her grandson, Stephen Burke of Neptune, N.J.; her granddaughter, Megan Burke of Brooklyn, N.Y.; and many nieces and nephews.

She is predeceased by her husband, George E. Lenz; her brothers, Leslie (Skip) Baker and Gordon (Gogi) Baker; and sister, Lois Baker Zak.

Janice will be remembered by her family as a loving, dedicated mother and grandmother, who cared deeply for her family. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, extended family, and friends. She was a "New England-ah" at heart, and never lost her New Hampshire accent, which she was very proud of. She loved the New Hampshire and Maine coasts. Some of her favorite times were when she would travel to New Hampshire and Maine, to spend time with family and friends there. She also enjoyed getting together with her Seneca Falls and Waterloo friends, and loved dining out, going to wineries, and vacations to Myrtle Beach and many parts of New England.

She was an avid health enthusiast for many years, and was very interested in nutrition, eating healthy and exercise. She loved knitting and made many sweaters and afghan blankets for her family and friends over the years.

Janice moved from Seneca Falls, N.Y. to Iselin, N.J. in December 2021, to be closer to her family in her later years.

At Janice's request, there will be no calling hours or funeral service.

A Celebration of Life will be held privately at a later date.
