John Hoster Obituary
FAYETTE– John H. Hoster, 88, of Cemetery Road, died Friday (Aug. 12, 2011) at Geneva General Hospital.
There will be no prior calling hours or service. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Canoga Cemetery in Fayette. The Rev. Phil Tennies will officiate.
Memorial contributions may be made in John's name to an organization of one's choice.
John was born Sept. 23, 1922 the son of the late Edward and Helen Eighmey Hoster. He served as a medic in the U. S. Army Air Corps in England during W. W. II. He was a lifelong resident of Fayette. He was a life member of the Canoga Volunteer Fire Department and past fire chief. He was a former member of the Fayette Town Board. He also served as Town Justice for the Town of Fayette.
He is survived by his wife Harriet Everts Hollenbeck Hoster; three sons: John R. (Theresa Ofner) Hoster of Groton, David N. (Marjorie) Hoster of Seneca Falls, and Thomas H. (Marilyn) Hoster of Canoga; one daughter: Martha (Philip) Rogers of Canoga; four step-daughters: Barbara Hollenbeck Bailey of Leesburg, Fla., Karen Hollenbeck Narburgh of Seymour, Tenn., Faye (Bruce) Hollenbeck Stowell of Geneva, Carol (William) Hollenbeck Duke of Reidsville, N.C.; one step-daughter-in-law: Patricia Westlund Hollenbeck of Maryville, Tenn.; one sister: Lillian M. (Fred) Hand of Fla.; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife Alys Jones Hoster on December 30, 1986, one sister: R. Barbara King, and step-son: Tracy Hollenbeck.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Coe-Genung Funeral Home in Waterloo.
