Jose Ortiz-Reyes Obituary

PENN YAN – Jose Manuel Ortiz-Reyes, 79, passed away on Monday (Dec. 11, 2017) unexpectedly at his home. Family and friends may gather at Weldon's Funeral Home, Saturday, (December 16, 2017) at 6 p.m. for a Memorial Service. There will be no funeral services preceding. There will be a gathering following the Memorial Service.

Jose was born on October 4, 1938, in Rio Pideras, Puerto Rico. He was the son of the late Juan Morales and Genevieve Ortiz. He worked at the Keuka Lake State Park for over 30 years as part of the grounds keeping crew. He loved the park, enjoyed the people he met throughout the years, and the mostly the friendships he mad. He was a devoted family man, loved by all who knew him. Jose was the most wonderful father, brother, uncle, grandpa, boyfriend and all around best. Jose loved life, and lived it to the fullest. He spent his time listening to music, playing dominoes and cards.

He is survived by his only brother, William Reyes of Geneva; his partner of 10 years, Sandra Howell; daughters Tammy Pym (Charles Jr.), of Penn Yan and Maria Lewis of Dundee. His sons Gerald Dykeman(Angel), Paul Dykeman Jr(Ada) of Penn Yan; grandchildren Jenn Kaitlyn, Chris, Jon, Frankie, Jaushwa, Emmanuel, Melissa, and Kimberly, Angel and Penny; One great-granddaughter, Sophia; and four great-grandsons Gunner, Memphis, Kingston and Nate; nieces and nephews Genovieve, Miguel, Paula, Tammy, Jessicalyn, Dwayne, Patrick, Ricky, Heaven, Brenda, Charles; and several other nieces and nephews; his best friend, Tom Flick.

Jose was predeceased by his wife, Linda Reyes in 2006; father, Juan Morales; and mother, Genevieve Ortiz.
