Kathleen Flick Obituary

GENEVA - Kathleen Bennett Flick left her earthly body on Saturday, October 5 with her daughters by her side.

A celebration of life will be held this Saturday (October 12) from 3-5 p.m. at the Geneva Public Library. Wear your happiest colors and bring your fondest memories.

Kathleen was born on February 28, 1943 to Harry H Bennett, and Dorothy E Hibbard and later, step daughter to Henry W. Sullivan, was a lifelong resident of Geneva. After graduating from Geneva High School in 1961, she attended Beauty School in Syracuse, N.Y.

Upon completion of Beauty School, she was a hairdresser in Geneva for over 56 years. She worked at Mamie's, DelForties, her own shop, Kathy's Kut and Kurl Korner, Innovations and Blown Away. She treated all of her customers like family and loved to hear about their lives.

Kathleen married William J. Flick in September of 1972 and became the mother to his children, Kimberley and William Jr. Kathleen loved being a mother above all else. When trying for a baby turned out to be difficult, William and Kathleen applied for adoption. After all the forms were filled out and in process, they found out they were expecting their daughter Susan. Not long after, the adoption process blessed them with their youngest daughter, Sarah.

Kathleen loved her life at Trinity Church and her church family there. She was an active member, serving on the Vestry several times and volunteering until her health would no longer allow it.

Most of all, Kathleen loved her family. She loved to laugh and would retell jokes very badly. She gave to anyone who needed it, even when she really didn't have much to give. She was a kind and gentle soul who will be missed by all who loved her.

Kathleen is survived by her children: Susan Flick, Sarah Flick, Kimberley Genung and William Flick Jr.; sisters: Susan Bennett Vogt, Donna Bennett Magraw and Susan Singleton; brothers: Mike Sullivan and Greg Bennett; grandchildren: Nicholas Genung and Jacob Flick; special nieces: Lisa (Mike) Conroy and Kathleen (Mike) Lerch and Bethany (Joe) Romano; and many cousins, great nieces and nephews.

Kathleen was predeceased by her parents; brothers: Robert B. Bennett and Garth Bennett; sister-in-law Connie Bennett; niece, Jessica Bennett; and great-niece Eleni Bennett.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Geneva Public Library, 244 Main Street, Geneva, N.Y. 14456, Trinity Place, P.O. Box 287, Geneva, N.Y. 14456 or simply help your fellow human, be kind and love those around you.

A special thank you to the staff at Geneva Living Center North, who took care of her when we could not, and loved her like she was family.

Susie-please accept my condolences on the passing of your Mom. I did not know your mother but if she was as kind to people as you were to my Dad, she was a wonderful human being.
