Leo Pickard Sr. Obituary

GENEVA/PHELPS- Leo V. (Bud) Pickard Sr. passed away peacefully Thursday (July 26) in his home with his family at his side following a long term illness.
No prior calling hours. Funeral arrangements are being made by Cheney Funeral Home, 70 Main St., Phelps.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday (Aug. 2) at the Oaks Corner Presbyterian Church.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to American Cancer Society and Ontario Yates Hospice.
Leo was born on February 1, 1930 in Perryville, Maryland the son of the late Benonia and Anna (Owens) Pickard. He was a member of the Oaks Corner Presbyterian Church, The Phelps American Legion, graduated Phelps High school, Fraternal Order of Eagle 4273. He served in the US Navy (Korean War), employed by the Seneca Army Depot retiring in 1988. He was an outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, hunting, and gardening. He spent his winter months in the community of Corley Island, Leesburg, Florida. Bud enjoyed his many friends and activities there especially playing shuffle board.
He is survived by his children Leo V. Pickard Jr. of Geneva, NY, Paul (Nancy) Pickard of Webster, NY, Michael (Patricia) Pickard of Seneca Falls, NY, Lori (Chris) Robson of Waterloo, NY, Mark Pickard of Darien Center, NY, Yvonne Pickard (Jr. Mateo) Waterloo, NY; sister, Gloria Pickard; brother, Ernest Pickard both of Leesburg, Florida; 15 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephew, also his companion of several years Charlotte Chilson of Baldwinsville, NY.
He was predeceased by his parents, wife Muriel Nash Pickard and brother, Alfred Pickard.

Sorry to see that Leo passed on. I worked with him for many years at the Depot in the heating plants. He was a great help to me during my apprentice training in that field. Also had some good times with him and Muriel at Depot picnics. We didnt keep in touch after he retired and I am sorry we didnt. My prayers go to him and the family.
