Patricia "Pat" Moore

INTERLAKEN - Patricia 'Pat' Moore (also known as Gram), born on May 11, 1933, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and creativity.

Pat's hands were always busy, crafting gifts from the heart-crocheting dishcloths, baby blankets, holiday pins, and snowflakes to adorn Christmas trees. She found joy in creating and sharing her work, ensuring that those around her always had a piece of her love to hold onto.

Born the eldest in her family, she embraced the role of caretaker from a young age. Though reluctant at first, this nurturing spirit became a defining trait of her life. She later met and married the love of her life, Lewis Moore, with whom she built a warm and welcoming home, expanding their family with their children: Lewis Moore Jr. (Sonny), Fredrick William Moore (Fred), Bonnie Moore, and David Moore (Darlene). Their hearts also carried the memory of Benjamin Moore, whom they lost in infancy. They were married for 56 years, and shared grandchildren, Christy (Laurie), Lewis Moore III (Jessica), James McCauley, Johnathon (Amy) McCauley, Dr. Laura McCauley (Jay), Greg VanLaare (Christy), and Charissa Lynn Hamm; 13 great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; brother, Theodore (Nancy) Covert; and a sister, Bertha Dilts. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Moore in 2006; two sons, Lewis Moore Jr. and Benny Moore; and three brothers and three sisters.

Pat had a deep love for learning and took immense pride in earning her high school diploma. She worked for over 30 years in the Interlaken School Cafeteria, preparing meals for hundreds of students. She was a librarian at the Interlaken library, Girl Scout Leader, lifetime member of the Interlaken Historical Society, Arts and Crafts Coordinator for the summer Recreation Program, and Interlaken Citizen of the Year. She was a devoted Democrat and a volunteer poll worker. Her dedication to children's education and literacy continued when she became the librarian in Interlaken, a role she cherished. She was honored to have the Children's Reading Room named after her, a testament to the countless young lives she inspired.

Her home, built one room at a time as her family grew, became a gathering place filled with warmth, laughter, and love. She found joy in spending time outdoors with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, making memories through arts and crafts, library trips, and baking. She passed on valuable life skills, from perfecting pie crusts to teaching about nature and the importance of kindness.

Pat was a woman of strong values, unwavering patience, and boundless generosity. She believed in the power of kindness and hugs, often reminding others that love and goodness always come back to us. Her deep faith in God was the foundation of her life, guiding her every action with love and grace.

She had a special place in her heart for animals, especially golden retrievers, who were often treated to her homemade waffles. Her frugality was well known, but so was her generosity-always ensuring that those she cared about never left empty-handed. Whether it was a handmade gift, a thoughtful card, or a shared meal, she had a way of making everyone feel special.

In her later years, Pat found great comfort in the care of friends and family, who surrounded her with love, laughter, and support. Her humor and spunk never faded, even in difficult times.

Though her hands are now still, her legacy of love, generosity, and faith will live on in the hearts of those who knew her. She touched countless lives with her kindness, leaving the world a better place than she found it.

The family will be present to receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Friday, March 14, 2025 at Ness-Sibley Funeral Home, 23 South Street, Trumansburg. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 15, 2025 at Interlaken Reformed Church, 8315 North Main Street, Interlaken with a reception to follow. Burial will be private for the family.

In honor of Pat's memory, her family encourages acts of kindness, big or small, as a tribute to her loving spirit.
