Paul Dickson Obituary

NEWFIELD - Paul Edward Dickson, 82, of Newfield, N.Y. went peacefully to his eternal home on August 23, 2021, with his wife and children at his bedside.

Services will be held at a later date, to be determined.

The family has requested that remembrances be made in the form of contributions to benefit the Church of the Nazarene in the many projects and needs that the church supports. The funds will be used to help in developing infrastructure and recovery in a recent church fire. Paul was born on October 19, 1938, to Clarence and Anna Dickson in Valley Stream, N.Y. He married Glenna Ruth Tyner on September 6, 1958, in Fairmount, N.Y. After graduating high school, Paul joined the army reserves and then enrolled at Eastern Nazarene College in Wolliston, Mass. where he met Glenna. He graduated with a BA Degree in ministry and Social Science. In Paul's early married years, he pastored at Hemple Church in Hemple, Mo. and Watkins Glen Church of the Nazarene. He worked in Social Services for 20 years, first as Child Case worker and Director in Schuyler County and later as Commissioner in Yates County. After retiring from Social Services, Paul continued to work in ministry as Director of Brooktondale Nazarene Camp for seven years.

Paul had a love for travel, history, (especially the civil war) and loving on every member of his family. He is known for his deep love for Jesus which was exemplified in his unconditional love for others and everyone he met felt valued and special. He had a love for the country of Israel and visited there along with Ireland, Norway and many other locations within the United States.

Paul is survived by his loving wife, Glenna Ruth (Tyner) Dickson, after 63 years of marriage; and his adoring children David (Sharon), Suzanne (Ray) and Robyn (Joshua); and Norwegian son, Svein Martin; grandchildren Michelle, Christian (Victoria), Joel (Allie), Brandon (Monica), Jacob (Camille), Sean, Allison, Ethan, and Isaac; multiple nieces and nephews; and three great-grandchildren Elijah, Ryker and Quinn.

He was predeceased by his parents; and siblings Ruth (Robert) Chase, Doris (John) Anderson and John (Barbara) Dickson.

This wonderful man is my dearest daddy. We were so blessed to have him as our papa in life. In death he has victoriously been elevated to heaven and is with the Father and loving Jesus. We will miss him greatly but will see him soon!
