Rebecca Palmer Obituary

WATERLOO – Rebecca L "Becky" (Daeffler) Palmer, 75, passed away Wednesday August 6, 2025 at Hildebrandt Hospice Care Center in Rochester, N.Y.

Family and friends may call 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Thursday August 14 at Coe-Genung Funeral Home, 46 W. Main St., Waterloo, N.Y. The memorial service will follow at noon at the funeral home. Rev. William Dorow, Jr., pastor of Calvary Lutheran Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Waterloo, N.Y.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Calvary Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, 2414 N. Route 414, Waterloo, N.Y. 13165.

Becky was born June 5, 1950 in Clifton Springs, N.Y., the daughter of Wayland L. and Lillian Z. Hand Daeffler. She was a 1968 graduate of Waterloo High School and started her impressive career at Wicke's Lumber in Waterloo, working in the office and developing her administrative and financial skills. Her next experience was with Alaskan Oil Inc., where she would go on to work for over 30 years in the business office. Becky was a cornerstone of the company and made many lasting relationships. Later in her career, Becky worked at several other companies including Wadhams, Ontario County Landfill and retired from her beloved Seneca Cayuga ARC. She also worked at del Lago in her final years, where she put her love of talking to people to good use.

Becky was a fantastic cook and throughout the years, she and her daughter, Beth, were involved in several food service businesses, including catering, opening a coffee shop and owning a soup business and food truck. Becky's favorite group to cook for was always for her family. Becky was an active member of Calvary Lutheran Church, where she sang in the choir, sat on committees, held financial secretary office, and organized fundraisers. Becky was a creative artist and seamstress. She started sewing as a teenager and would go on to sew for her daughter, Beth, and many other of her loved ones: wedding dresses, dolls, costumes for her grandchildren and numerous requested alterations and special projects for her family and friends.

Becky made friends wherever she went. She was known for her beautiful blue eyes and big heart. Becky would embrace anyone who needed a hug, an ear to listen, a shoulder to cry on, a meal, or help with a project. Becky was a cherished daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, mother and grandmother and will be missed dearly.

Becky is survived by loving husband, Michael J. Palmer of Waterloo, N.Y.; daughter Elizabeth (David) Reed of Waterloo, N.Y.; grandchildren Adam (Shaleena) Erway of Palmyra, N.Y. and Abigail Erway and Jack Erway of Waterloo, N.Y.; sisters Donna Bud and Elizabeth (Stanley) Britton of Waterloo, N.Y.; aunt Yvonne "Bonnie" Pedersen of Sarasota, FL; several cousins, nieces and nephews; and sister-in-law Karen Schaup Daeffler.

She was predeceased by her parents; and brother David Daeffler.

Graduated with Becky from Waterloo Senior High School class of 1968. Will always remember her infectious laugh and great smile. My sincerest condolences to her family and many friends. Heaven has welcomed another angel. Rest in peace, Becky.

So sad to see this. My Dad John Daeffler and her were cousins and they were so funny together. She would always greet him with the biggest hugs and kisses like she had not seen him in years. I will be thinking of her family and everyone that knew and loved her.

Yesterday

Becky would be the first person to join our little Choir at Calvary Lutheran. She was there at every turn...every practice...every Sunday, providing hugs, smiles and a breath of fresh air. She made it easy to love her and her daughter Beth was the same in many ways. I am sorry my friends for your loss but her gain in Heaven is so worth the pain. God bless. Forever friends, if the Lord is Lord of all. Joanie Gelatt

I am so sorry to hear of Becky's passing. My heart goes out to the family. She was a beautiful loving soul and it was a priviledge to have known her.
