Richard Parker Obituary

SHORTSVILLE–Richard Lewis Parker, 81 entered eternal rest on Monday (January 1, 2018) at his daughter's home.

Family will greet friends Friday (Jan. 5) from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Halsted-Patrick Funeral Home, Inc., 19 N. Main St, Manchester. A Funeral Service will be Saturday (Jan. 6) at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Spring burial in Pioneer Cemetery.

Richard was born the son of the late Elmer and Mary (Boisvent) Parker on Friday, October 23, 1936 in Hopewell, N.Y. He spent his life in the Shortsville area, graduating from Canandaigua Academy class of 1954. He served his country in the United States Navy from 1957 to 1961. Richard retired from G.W. Lisk in Clifton Springs where he worked in the maintenance department. Richard was a past member of Shortsville Volunteer Fire Dept and a life member of Manchester Volunteer Fire Dept. He was also a member of the Ontario County Hazmat Team and past member of the Shortsville American Legion. He enjoyed working with youth, and was a past Boy Scout Leader for many years and coached Little League Baseball. Richard enjoyed watching rodeos. As an excellent wood builder, he built many sets for the Red Jacket school plays and most recently converted his daughter's basement into a beautiful family room. Most of all he loved to attend his daughter's softball games.

Richard will be remembered by his son, Marc (Maria) Parker; daughter, Cindy (Jim) Goodall; grandsons Austin and Nicholas Parker; brothers Tom (Harlene) Parker and Bill Parker; several nieces & nephews; many, many friends; his grand dogs Tigger and Pooh Bear.

Richard was predeceased by his wife, Betty (Holtz) Parker on Nov. 5, 2017; brothers Elmer Parker and Leon Parker.

I will always remember Mr. Parker during fire prevention week at Red Jacket Elementary School. He was a favorite of the students and they loved him.

My wife and i worked at Lisk for many years along with Dick. Dick was always helpful and pitched in to help everyone. He was definately one of the good ones and it was a pleasure know and work with Dick.
