Ruth Pigman Obituary

WATERLOO - Ruth A. Pigman – loving mother, grandmother, Noni, neighbor, and friend - passed away at home Tuesday, March 4, 2025, at the age of 88 with her girls by her side.

In keeping with Ruth's wishes there will be no public calling hours, or service. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.

Ruth was born September 22, 1936 in Canandaigua, N.Y. the daughter of the late Allen and Helen Norton. Ruth was a dedicated mother first and foremost. She treasured her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and embraced every moment with family. She enjoyed hosting Sunday dinners and never missed a birthday, holiday, or special event. Ruth loved to knit. Her creations were made with great skill and care, with love knitted into each gift and project. A basket of her favorite dishcloths ready for the taking could always be found on her kitchen counter.

A lifelong resident of Waterloo, Ruth was well-loved in her small town. She cared deeply and was quick to lend support. Her door was always open, ensuring that every individual who entered was safe, healthy, and happy.

Ruth worked for GTE Sylvania and Seneca Knitting Mill in Seneca Falls, and George's Store in Waterloo. She was very involved in the Waterloo Little League and Vince Lombardi Youth Football.

She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Hoehn; daughter-in-law, Lori Pigman; grandchildren, Shelli (Brendt), Kristin (Bob), Keri, Heather (Greg), Jennifer (Mike) and Jeffery (Laura); great grandchildren, Tarynn, Ryder, Brynn, Owen, Avery, Abigail, Hazard, Allison and Jacob; sister, Leona Sargeant; sister-in-law, Bonnie Norton; several nieces, nephews, cousins and longtime friend Annie Brownrigg.

The family wishes to express their love and gratitude for the compassion and care given to Ruth by the girls lovingly known to the family as "Ruth's Angels".

Besides her parents, Ruth is preceded in death by her husband, Tom; sons, Tom and Jeffery; daughter-in-law, Robin; sister Gladys; brothers Walter, Doug, and Billy.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donations in Ruth's memory to the American Heart Association, 2 S. Clinton St., Ste. 305, Syracuse, N.Y. 13202 or Beverly's Animal Shelter, 50 East River Street, Waterloo, N.Y. 13165; where she rescued her dog and companion Lexi.
