Nancy McHale Obituary

Nancy Carol (Reyelts Byerly) McHale died peacefully in her sleep the morning of April 22, 2025 at The Oaks At Post Road assisted living facility in Cumming, Georgia.
She was born in Lost Nation, Iowa, to Pauline (Heller Reyelts) Eden and George "Fritz" Reyelts, and moved to Davenport, IA in 1957 where she and her husband of 30 years, Ronald L. Byerly raised their four children.

She enjoyed being active in the church and spoiling her family. She was a Cub Scout and Girl Scout leader, PTA president at Fillmore Elementary, in Davenport, volunteered her time playing piano for her children's school performances, supported many school events, went to thousands of ball games, taught Sunday school, and was active in the choir at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Davenport. Nancy held jobs while raising her family, focusing on health care administration in doctor's offices in Davenport. She moved to Palm Beach Gardens, FL in 1986, while working in healthcare, met and married Donald McHale, and stayed active in various church activities. She relocated to Georgia to live near her daughter Tammy and family in 2004 and was involved in numerous groups at Parkway Presbyterian Church. Nancy was a Deacon, headed up Prime Timers senior group, attended women's bible study, choir, bell choir and VBS. She enjoyed conversation and making anyone that had the pleasure of being in her presence valued and listened to. Her memory was failing her in the last years of her life, but she never forgot her family. She was a loving sister, mother and grandmother who loved cooking and making amazing cookies for friends and celebrations she hosted. Food and hospitality were some of her special gifts.

Her life and love lives on through her sister Shirley A. Swordes, children Timothy R. (Janet) Byerly, Todd R. (Lori) Byerly, Tanya R. (Tony) Chahal and Tamara R. (Dom) Fontana, grandchildren Casey, Rachel, Drew, Raj, Mark, Nikki, Carter, and Cameron, 4 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

In memory of Nancy and her love of cats, please make a food or financial donation to the ASPCA or your local animal shelter.
