ARTHUR BURNS Obituary

ARTHUR BURNS, 75, of New Haven, passed away Monday Oct. 12, 2015. He retired from Allen County Sheriff's Department with 28 years of service. He was co-owner of CAJ Discount Foods in Fort Wayne. He loved spending the winters in Florida, fishing in the U.P. of Michigan, IU basketball, helping people and making people laugh. But most of all he dearly loved his family. He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Burns; sons, Brian Burns of New Haven and Craig (Luz) Burns of Clinton, Okla.; daughter, Sandra (Andrew) McLaren of Westfield, Ind.; grandchildren, Nathan Burns and Aaron Burns, both of New Haven, Amanda Burns of Leo, Kevin Burns of New Jersey, Alec and Connor McLaren, both of Westfield; great-grandson, Drayke Alan of Leo; and sister, Anne Clymer of South Haven, Mich. He was preceded in death by both parents; brother, Bill Burns; and sisters, Lois Brudi, Marilyn Rice and Margaret Culbertson. Service is 3 p.m. Friday, Oct. 16, 2015, with calling two hours prior, at New Haven United Methodist Church, 630 Lincoln Highway East, New Haven, Ind. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to S.P.C.A or a local Salvation Army. Arrangements by Midwest Funeral Home and Cremation Society.

Phyllis I don't even know where to begin to show my respect for this man. I can only express my deepest sorrow and prayers for you. Art was my neighbor, my friend, my brother in arms, and most of all my mentor when I became an officer. He was always there if you needed help, and always had that smirk on his face. I will miss him terribly, and think of him often. I would say to him, Rest in Peace dear friend. You will never be forgotten.
