BARBARA LOU BERCOT

1934 - 2022

BARBARA LOU BERCOT, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Friday, March 4, 2022, two days after her 88th birthday, surrounded by family and great love. Born March 2, 1934, in Scotts, Mich., she was a daughter of Ovid Roe and Wilma (Bigelow) Roe. Following graduation from Union City High School in Union City, Mich., Barbara moved to Fort Wayne to attend The International Business College. She met her future husband, Jim Elvin Bercot, at the Roller Dome in Fort Wayne and they married on March 18, 1954. They lived in California, Indiana, and Illinois, but Fort Wayne was always "home." Barbara is survived by her sister, Linda (Martin) Minier of Athens, Mich.; son, Marc (Kristi) Bercot of Huntington, Ind.; son, Douglas (Twila) Bercot of Fort Wayne; daughter, Beth (Bercot) Pedersen of Fort Wayne; daughter-in-law, Theresa (Wilcox) Bercot of Fort Wayne; seven grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. Barbara was preceded in death by her beloved Jim who passed away in 2005; and sister, Arlene (George) Bingley formerly of Kankakee, Ill. Funeral service is 11 a.m. Saturday, March 19, 2022, at D.O. McComb & Sons Pine Valley Park Funeral Home, 1320 E. Dupont Road, Fort Wayne, with visitation one hour prior. Visitation also from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 18, 2022, at the funeral home.
