Bruce Earnest Obituary
A proud graduate of North Side High School in Fort Wayne, class of 1968, Bruce embarked on a distinguished military career shortly thereafter. In 1969, he joined the United States Navy and quickly found his calling in naval salvage operations. He completed Salvage School in 1972 and went on to achieve the prestigious designation of Master Diver in 1981 - an honor reflecting both his skill and commitment. Bruce retired with the rank of Master Chief/Master Diver in June 1994 after more than two decades of honorable service to his country.
Bruce was deeply devoted to his family and friends. He is survived by his beloved wife Carol Ann; daughter Kerrie McGovern; stepdaughters Laura Vallory and Lisa Blanchard; sister Cynthia Jackson; and brothers Charles Thomas, Mark and Todd. His legacy also lives on through his grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews who brought joy to his life. Bruce was preceded in death by his son Scott E Earnest, his parents Carolyn J Earnest and Malcolm L Earnest.
Beyond his military accomplishments, Bruce will be remembered as a devoted husband and loyal friend especially to his fellow Navy veterans. He was an avid outdoorsman who found peace and purpose in hunting and fishing. A skilled woodworker, he took pride in creating with his hands---leaving behind not only memories but tangible pieces of craftsmanship that reflect his care and precision. He was also a proud member of the Masonic Lodge, Tellico #80 and American Legion Tellico Lake Post 256 of Tennessee.
