I lived beside the Doaks in the early 70's on Stophlet Street. I was always amazed at Carol's friendly smile and energy taking care of so many children and foster kids too. I also remember Dick helping me start my VW when I couldn't get it started. I remember baking homemade molasses cookies and Tess came over to my upstairs apartment and had cookies and milk with me. I still have a picture of her in one of my photo albums. Deepest sympathies to the family!

I enjoyed listening to the conversations between Carol and my mom, Mary Doust. They talked about their families, parishes, husbands, high school, early married life, and their homes. Two women of strength who accepted joy and pain. Carol's smile and sparkling eyes greeted everyone. She seemed most content at Mass and sitting in the sun on St. Anne's front porch as she read and darkened her beautiful tan. My sympathy to your entire family from the Doust family who enjoyed and admired this lovely lady.

With loving memories of Carol Doaka wonderful model of Christs love in our daily lives. We were honored to know Carol as a fellow parishioner at St. Josephs Parish. We admired Dick and Carol as examples of what a beautiful marriage should reflect. We saw their love for each other in the faces of their children - and in the faces of the many children they gave a loving foster home. We know their family will cherish the blessing of these special parents. God speed Carol! Your home in Heaven awaits you.

My childhood is filled with memories of our two large families living a few doors apart and interacting often. Mts. Doak always had a child in her arms or at her side. She was a true gem and will be missed. I pray that God grants peaceful hearts to her family.

Mrs. Doak you were one of teh kindest women I will ever have known. When I was younger I used to think you were Our own Mother Theresa. So many kids that you cared for...anyone was blessed to have known you. My sympathies to the Doak family.

To the Doak Family,
My sincere sympathy to you on the loss of your Mom, Grandmother,
I can remember well when I was pastor, Dick and Carol being present at St. Peter's and I want to say, St. John's before that, as memory serves me. They were always very involved and giving people who helped wherever they could, which is part of the tribute you beautifully list in the obituary.
Prayers for you and your family in your days ahead. Two gentle souls are back together, eternally.

What a wonderfully sweet woman she was and a model for all mothers. She was certainly so loved. Good bye Carol.
