Dear Marge and Family,

I am very sorry that I was out of town and was unable to pay my respects to Bud. He was a wonderful person to work with. Never talking about himself, just listening to others and showing concern for his fellow senators, his district and the whole state. He rightfully made a place for himself in the history books of the Senate.

Dear Meeks Family-I am sorry at your loss, but know he is taking care of things above. We considered him an honorary citizen of Monroeville. He used to love to come out to the Monroeville 4th of July Celebration at the park. He said that was what small-town America was all about. We will miss him and we thank him for his service. Best regards, Lois and Neil Ternet

I was saddened to read about Bud’s passing. Remembering him brings back old memories of when I worked at the Lantern during my school years (1969-72) and Mr. Meeks worked security for the events. That was during his years in drug enforcement and all my friends at school were incredulous “You know Bud Meeks?”. We had a lot of fun working those late nights and I am glad our paths crossed if only for a short time. Serious when you had to be, fun when you could be, so long Mr. Meeks.

He was always one step ahead of us and he had the firm hand when we needed it. He had the voice of reason and wisdom. He set a great example for us as a leader, a husband, a father and a good friend.

I would like to give my greatest sympathy towards the Meeks family. A couple years ago I was a page down at the State House. I was very lucky to serve Bud as a page down there. He was very funny but serious at the same time. He told me a lot of information about our state and how it is ran. My parents are very involved with politics and Bud would come to the Republican Breakfast for Steuben County. I was so excited the first Saturday of every month to see him. He knew my name and loved to talk to me. I have great memories of him that will live inside me forever.
