D. RUTLEDGE Obituary

REV. D. RONALD RUTLEDGE, 54, passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2012, at Lutheran Hospital. As a native of Fort Wayne, he was a 1976 graduate of Wayne High School and received his Bachelors of Science degree from I.U. Bloomington in 1980. He served as Pastor of Fort Wayne Christian Center for 25 years. He also served as the Co-Director of Young Scholars Academy at Canterbury School. Surviving are his wife, Cookye Rutledge; daughter, Ronnye Christina Rutledge; brothers, Melde Jr. and Patrick (Theda) Rutledge; and nephews, Nathan and David Rutledge. He was preceded in death by his parents, Melde and Rosie Rutledge. Service is 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 25 2012, at Fort Wayne Christian Center, 6901 S. Hanna St., with visitation one hour before service. Visitation also from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 24, 2012, at the church. Burial in Covington Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Ellis Funeral Home.

I too remember the fonds days at Eliza Street COG and McKee Street COGO with Ronnie and the Church of God families. When my sister told me of your passing I was shocked and saddened. We can only pray to God, to

Fond, fond memories of a great childhood friend at Eliza Street COG and then McKee Street COG. In high school, we went to Summer School at South Side together, trying to knock out some credits and Ronnie was our trusted chaffeur. Yesterday, I thought through Ronnie's days at Bethesda. We wrote back and forth during that time and I admired his tenacity, his strength and his humor that he maintained through that struggle so it was a shock to my system to hear this news yesterday. Cookye, God's grace and peace to you and your family, from my heart to yours. Though I haven't seen you in many years, I know that you will go through this trial with dignity and your faith intact.
