DAVID JESSE Obituary

DAVID H. JESSE, 78, of Ft. Wayne, greeted the New Year by shedding his earthly vessel for an eternal one early Jan. 1, 2011, at Lutheran Hospital following a lengthy illness. At his side when he passed was his adoring and doting wife, Ila whom he married 56 years ago. Born March 15, 1932, in Ft. Wayne, he was the second of four sons born to Herbert and Kathryn (Sellers) Jesse. He graduated from Ossian High School and the International Business College. He married the love of his life, Ila Schaefer on May 2, 1954. It was his dream to farm the Jesse homestead near Ossian but instead spent most of his career in the agriculture business working for Farm Bureau CoOp, Central Soya, Wyandot Popcorn, and Central States, and in retirement for National Tube Form and Avis Budget. He and Ila were busy raising their five children but always had time to actively serve their local church, children's school system and activities. In addition, he enjoyed traveling with his wife, and was antique car enthusiast and member of the Old Fort Model A Club, participating with his own 1929 Model A pickup truck. In addition to being survived by his wife, Ila, he leaves five children; David (Cindy) of Louisville Ky., Dann (Mary) of Clyde, N.C., Jill Ann of Indianapolis, Duane (Carol) of Cortland, Ohio, and Dennis of Powell, Ohio, six grandchildren; Drew, Adam, Anne, Drake, Aaron and Heather; a brother, William of Ossian; and a sister-in-law, Sue Jesse of Ft. Wayne. Preceding him in death are two brothers, Herbert and Thomas. Memorial Service is 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2011, at Risen Savior Lutheran Church 8010 West Jefferson Blvd. Ft. Wayne, the Rev. Martin Gehring, Pastor, officiating. Friends and family may pay their respects from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 3, 2011, at the Elzey Patterson Rodak Funeral Home, 120 west Mill St. Ossian, and one hour before the memorial service. Memorials in David's honor may be made to Risen Savior Lutheran Church or any other charity. Please visit www.elzey-patterson-rodak.com to leave condolences.

Ila and family -
Deepest and sincere sympathies to all of you during this difficult time. Loved the times we shared in Marion.

Dear Ila, Family Members, and Friends,

Ruth and I wish to share with you our heartfelt sympathy and love upon the departure of your husband, father, grandfather, and brother, David, who is now in heaven with perfect health and seated at the heavenly banquet table with Jesus and brothers, Herbert and Thomas, and many other family members and friends who preceded David to their mansions.

The departure of a loved one is a very difficult experience and has caused a void in your hearts and a grief that is almost unbearable; therefore, we encourge you to freely shed tears of sorrow as those tears cause you to experience a brief respite at this time. Remember, Jesus wept at the death of His dear friend, Lazarus, and thereby gave us a model to follow when we expereince the death of a loved one.

However, being aware that he is now with his Savior, will also give you joy and the assurance that you will be runited with David when you receive your "call" to depart this earth.

We leave you with much love and God's love, too,
Dick and Ruth (Werling) Bultemeyer

Aunt Ila so sad to hear about Uncle Dave. I have so many fond memories of Uncle Dave. He always made me laugh with his funny jokes and hilarious characteristics. He will be deeply missed by all of us. Sorry that I won't be able to make it for visitation or the funeral service, but all of you will be in my thoughts in prayers! I know that he will be in a better place and he will have great company!

Love all of you!

Dear Ila and family,

My prayers are with you all at this time. Dave was a very special cousin. I will remember his smile, the twinkle in his eye, and my childhood visits to the farm when he and his brothers would tease the "city girl" from Wabash.

You and I have both been blessed with very special men as husbands and have precious memories of the lives they shared with us.

Much love,

Katie Ann
