DAVID RAY SKELTON

DAVID RAY SKELTON, PhD, 85, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, March 13, 2023. Born in Green -castle, Ind., David was a son of the late Rev. Raymond and Pauline Skelton. David graduated from Logansport High School, earned his Bachelor's degree in Education from Ball State University and his Doctorate in Education from Indiana University. During his working years, David worked for IPFW for over 40 years serving in multiple roles to help grow the school. He taught statistics, served in the education department and was the Athletic Director for many years as well as coaching many different sports for the university. David coached his children's sports teams and supported them through all of their coaching endeavors. He loved watching sports, and cheering for IU (Indiana University), Detroit Tigers, and the Denver Broncos. David was the official score keeper for the Snider Panthers baseball team for 30 years. Surviving are his wife, Karen Skelton; children, Terah Brogan, Marc Skelton; and brother, Steven (Sherry) Skelton. David was also preceded in death by his siblings, Harold Pitts, and Madonna (Skelton) Snyder-Soe. A Celebration of David's Life is 3 p.m. Saturday, April 15, 2023, at FairHaven Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 6557 N. Clinton St., with calling from noon until the service. The family wishes for memorial contributions to be made to the PFW (IPFW) Athletics Discretionary Fund, where "Doc" was a coach and then Athletic Director and later tutored student-athletes.
