DAVID WAGGONER Obituary

DAVID W. WAGGONER, 61, of Grabill, went home to his Lord and Savior Jesus on Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2015, at his home. David was a man of uncommon character and integrity. His deep faith was the foundation of his life and shined through in his love for his family and friends, his passion to help others, and in all he did. Born Dec. 25, 1953, in Fort Wayne, he was the son of Marilyn (Fleming) of Grabill and the late Harry who passed one year ago. On June 29, 1974, he married Jane Kroemer in New Haven; she survives. They were devoted to one another for more than 41 years. He spent 40 years in the banking industry in the Fort Wayne area, working for Anthony Wayne Bank, 1st Chicago NBD, Banc One, Chase, Tower Bank and Community State Bank. He was a member of Harvest Fellowship Church in Grabill and helped found the church's Grief Share support group. He served as president of the Bayshore Heights Community Association, and the Foster Parents Association of Fort Wayne. He also served on the board of directors of One Church One Offender, Big Brother Big Sisters, and Junior Achievement, and he volunteered with Cancer Services of Northeast Indiana. David had a heart for mission work and traveled to Guatemala on several mission trips, where he especially enjoyed bonding and sharing God's love with children. David loved spending time with his family on Jimmerson Lake and was an avid Corvette fan, owning several over the years. Also surviving are one son, Andrew (Erin) Waggoner of Xenia, Ohio; one daughter, Aimee (Patrick) Esslinger of Grabill; four grandchildren, Ian Waggoner, and Naomi, Lucas and Audrianna Esslinger; and one sister, Carol (Tom) Woodfin of Auburn. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Sarah Jane. Funeral service is 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 10, 2015, at Harvest Fellowship Church, with calling one hour prior. Pastor Paul Mowery officiating. Friends may also call from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 9, 2015, at D.O. McComb & Sons Maplewood Park Funeral Home, 4017 Maplecrest Road. Burial in Leo Memorial Cemetery, Leo, Ind. Always in our hearts... thank you Dave for being so kind and loving and I so wish that we could of kept you longer. God wanted your beautiful spirit back and you touched so many people while you were here. When I am having a tough time with the fact that you and a lot of our family is not with us anymore I always picture the reunion that you and Sarah must of had, Sarah smiled once again and my heart sings with joy with that thought. So thanks for still looking out for all of us.
Love you always... Cousin Jane

Dear Jane and Family: I was so sorry to read of Dave's passing. He was a great person to work with at the old summit Bank, NBD Bank, First Chicago Bank etc. We shared an office right after the AWB merger and he was a great friend. Although I haven't seen Dave since my retirement, I have many fond memories of our working together. Please know that you all are in my prayers.
I am sure that Dave is in heaven with the Lord and Sarah.

My memories of David are all fond ones as I had the pleasure of work for him as an RB at the Village of Coventry. I always looked forward to his visits when he came to the banking center and to going to the monthly meetings downtown. David is a man whom will be missed, but remembered fondly.

I know Dave was a special person and gave 100% to whatever he took on. I had the pleasure of working beside him as a teller at Fort Wayne National Bank. He was always a go getter. He moved up quickly in the banking world. He is a special man who will be missed.
