DON POTTER Obituary

DON S. POTTER, 82, of Fort Wayne, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2020, at Avow Hospice, in Naples, Fla. Born Oct. 16, 1937, he was the son of Edith (Whiteman) and Clarence Potter. He graduated from Garrett High School, attended Hanover College, and earned a Bachelor's Degree from Ball State University. An avid sports fan, Don was a loyal supporter to his Indiana Hoosiers and loved seeing the General return to Assembly Hall. He retired from Lincoln National Life Insurance Company after 39 years as an underwriter, and spent his retirement traveling and spending quality time with his family. He was the high school sweetheart and devoted husband for 62 years to his wife, Nancy (Yarde) Potter; and loving father to his daughters, Shari (Jerry) Calabrese, Julie McLaughlin, Jill (Gene) Rochette, and Jennifer (Sean) Potter. He will be greatly missed by his seven adoring grandchildren, Mikela (Ross), Nicole, Dana, Natalie, Meredith, Zachary, and Ayden. A memorial service will be held in June or July at Taylor Chapel United Methodist Church, Fort Wayne.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Nancy and the girls. Don was a life long friend and I appreciated his thoughts on the Indiana Hoosiers and the Indianapolis Colts. I will miss our telephone conversations. He was indeed a friend for 60 plus years.

Our deepest sympathy goes to Nancy and all the daughters. Don was so kind, funny and steadfast. We are grateful he was a part of our lives when we lived in Ft. Wayne. He was a blessing. Rest In Peace .

It was my honor to know Don over many years. He loved his family and talked about you all so often. He always had a smile on his face and asked us girls how we were doing. He will be sadly missed by many many people at Pulm. Rehab. My prayer for the family and his wife is that you find peace in knowing he is healthy and safe now. Until we can all see him again. Gods blessings to you all!

Les and I always enjoyed talking with Don and Nancy at neighborhood gatherings or as they walked. Glad we got to know him. Thinking of you all at this sad time. I know you will always be thankful he was in your lives and all the precious memories you have accumulated through the years.
