Duane Meyers Obituary

DUANE I. MEYERS, 46, died Friday, May 9, 2008, at Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Born in Fort Wayne, he was the owner of Meyers Plumbing Co. of Fort Wayne, and a member of United Methodist Church of the Covenant. The many who knew him cared deeply for him and his presence in our lives will be greatly missed. Survivors include his wife, Cheryl L. Meyers of Spencerville; parents, Thomas L. Meyers of Fort Wayne; and mother, Dorothy V. Meyers of Fort Wayne; brothers, Donald G. (Beth L.) Meyers of Seffner, Fla., Dean T. (Jodi L.) Meyers of Medina, N.Y., and Dennis L. Meyers of Fort Wayne; sisters, Peggy J. Meyers (Dennis Sheetz) and Brenda K. Meyers, both of Fort Wayne; and several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. He was preceded in death by his step mother, Barbara Meyers, in 2005, from pancreatic cancer. Service is 3 p.m. Tuesday at United Methodist Church of the Covenant, 10001 Coldwater Road, with calling one hour prior. Pastor Jan Funk officiating. Cheryl, Iam so very sorry for your loss. Duane was a great friend of John's and i've known him for a very long time. I remember the night of John's wedding when you and Duane drove me to the reception and let me sleep in the back of your car! And when you would take Nat for a while. He was such a good"uncle". And you a marvelous "Aunt". He will be greatly missed by all. I love You and my thoughts and prayers are with you. Lori Workman

Brenda and family - I just heard about Duane this evening and I can hardly believe it. I am so sorry for your loss and I am sorry I missed the services. I wish I could have been there today to offer hugs and prayers, just like you did for me the night my father passed away in 1980. I will never forget that night.
My thoughts & prayers are with you.

Cheryl, I am so terribly sorry for the loss of Duane. Last night I was at my parents for dinner and I asked them about Duane. They said he had been really battling the illness, but we laughed and talked about when he took us out on the boat and all of the fun times we had. I am truly sorry that it has been so long since I have seen you both. Even though Duane was my cousin, I know you and him were much closer to my parents. I always adored both of you very much. Duane was a very corageous man, and you are a very corageous women. God bless you for being such an angel. I love you Cheryl and you are in my thoughts and prayers.

Love,
Sarah

Cheryl, I'm so sorry to hear about Duane's passing. He will be missed! Only you will know how much he will truely be missed. God has this big plan that we don't understand, yet. Someday we hope to be able to see God's plan unfolded before us when we see His face. Duane now gets to see this plan along with all the angels. Please know that we will still keep you in our family prayers. God Bless.
