Elbert Monroe Obituary

ELBERT "BUD" MONROE, 74, of Harlan, went to his mansion to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, Nov. 17, 2006. He retired from BF Goodrich in 1994, and then worked as a driver for Graber Woodworking. He was a member of Promise Ministries. He was past Commander of the VFW Post 5087 in Antwerp, Ohio and the American Legion Post 377 in Woodburn. He served his country faithfully during the Korean War. He was born and raised in Crossville, Tenn., and moved from there in 1963. He married Tierra D. (Sunday) Monroe on March 26, 1977 in Fort Wayne. Left to remember him are his wife, Tierra D. Monroe of Harlan; daughters, Marsha (Roger) Harshman of Avilla, Marilyn (Craig) Diehm of Albion and Summer (Chad) Long of Van Wert, Ohio; sisters, Louise Bolen of Waterloo, Suzie Dyer of Crossville, Tenn., Hazel Lemons of Grandview, Tenn., Judy Driver of Springs City, Tenn. and Billie Brown of Crossville, Tenn; brother, Oscar "Tog" Monroe of South Milford, Ind.; he was the blessed grandfather of, Shannon, Shane, Melissa, Justin, Jason, Troy and Braeden; and the great-grandfather of, Tanner, Kendall, Cody, Brittany, Brady and Colin. He joins in heaven his parents, Elbert Charles Monroe and Frances Ruby (Miller) Monroe; sister, Ruth Wilson. "He will be greatly missed by his many friends and family." Service is 11 a.m. Wednesday at Promise Ministries, 7323 Schwartz Road, Fort Wayne, with calling two hours prior to service. Calling is also from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, at the church. The Rev. Randall L. Glander officiating. Burial in Maumee Cemetery, Antwerp, Ohio. Memorials to Promise Ministries, 7323 Schwartz Road, Fort Wayne, 46835, Visiting Nurse & Hospice Service, 5910 Homestead Road, Fort Wayne, 46814 or Cancer Services, 2925 E. State Blvd. Fort Wayne, 46805. Arrangements by Carnahan-Baidinger & Walter Funeral Home, Spencerville, Ind.

Hi Bud,
I'm happy that Gil & I were able to talk to you last Thurs. afternoon. Sorry we were unable to make it to Essen Hauss but one day we'll meet in that Essen Hauss in the sky.

Tierra, iam so sorry to hear about Bud. we use to have some good times at Eagle Picher.He was always there to help everyone and he always had a smile on his face.You were the love of his life.He will be miss,but he will be in your heart.
