HESTER MAXINE DAWSON

HESTER MAXINE DAWSON, , 92, passed away on Monday, May 19, 2014, in the afternoon at Signature Health Care of Muncie. Born Feb. 6, 1922, in Madison Township, Ind, she was the daughter of John "Bill" Willard and Bessie (Harrod) Youse. She attended Hoagland High School and graduated from Lutheran Hospital School of Nursing in 1945. Hester married Clyde Lewis Dawson on Oct. 7, 1950. Hester worked as a registered nurse for David L. Tennant, M.D. for 21 years and later for Surgical Associates, Inc. After moving to Muncie in 1973, she worked as the Indiana Glass Company nurse for 3 1/2 years, then worked for Richard Weisner, M.D. She retired from active nursing in 1981 after 36 years. She was a member of Gethsemane United Methodist Church and Lutheran Hospital Alumnae Association. Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Clyde Lewis Dawson; one son, Clyde (Beth) Dawson II; and one sister, Margery Droege of Fort Wayne. She was preceded in death by her parents; and three brothers, John Noel Youse, Harold Youse, and Paul Youse. Memorial service is 2 p.m., Saturday, June 7, 2014, at Gethsemane United Methodist Church, 1201 W. McGalliard Road, Muncie, with the Reverend Vicky Perkins officiating.
