There was only one Jack Maines, fun loving, great dancer, wonderful older brother, the list goes on. Janice was one of my best friends and Jack liked to tease me, tease us. The day before John and I moved to AZ, Jack was the last person we saw before moving. Just a chance meeting but a great time talking with each other. Little did we know it was our last talk. Jack will always be a favorite memory of mine.

I was so sorry to hear of the loss of Jack. I knew him as a teenager and we had a lot of fun and laughs together. I saw him at a wedding a few years ago and it was nice to catch up on his life. We drove the wrong way on Washington or Jefferson Street one time with his top down on his car and he was playing the guitar and singing ... we were crazy teens then! I know how he loved his horses and was a joy to so many with the poney rides. He will always be remembered in the kindest way. I wish I could have been there and gotten a memorial card . My best to all the family ... he was a wonderful person.

We are friends of Jack's from Lauderdale by the Sea, Florida. We would see him most mornings in the Village, drinking coffee and socializing with the group that has gathered there for years. We always enjoyed talking with him, hearing stories about his "Rock and Roll" days, his campground, and his beloved grandchildren. He was a welcome guest at several of our parties.
He was a great guy who got along with everybody. He had many friends here. We are so sorry for the family's loss. It is our loss too, and we will miss him.

Dear Joyce, I'm so sorry to read of Jack's passing. I have so many wonderful memories of Jack, Janice, you, your Mom and Dad. Janice was one of my best friends so I saw you all often especially during our teen years. Both Jack and Janice were so much fun. At school Sock Hops Jack and Janice would always win first place for best dancers and Jack usually won with whoever his partner. You and your family are part of some of best of my Huntertown school memories and I will always treasure you all. Love, Pat

Wow, my memories are from the Juvenile Troopers. He and Janice sang and Jack played the guitar. Yes, as a preschooler I remember "Out Behind the Barn." I remember doing pony rides with Janice-I hid my eyes as she never stopped for red lights. Joyce and I played in the chicken coop and Jack just had girls drool over him. Margaret and Kenny got Mom and Dad on a mule and life was simply then!!!!!I know that Jack would rather have us sing a song to his life than mourn his death.
We lived a good life growing up in Huntertown and all of us shared that joy to others. Joyce will have good memories of life on the farm and with her siblings. Love to all that have those good memories of the Maines family.Kathy Manter Murray-friend and neighbor and performer on the Juvenile Troopers!

There were MANY happy memories camping at Pony Town when I was growing up in Fort Wayne. The memory of the nightly sing-a-longs around the campfire still bring a smile to my face, particularly Jack's "Out Behind the Barn" song! Jack was one of a kind.

Jack was a great guy. A ton of Luers kids went there on the weekends, and my girl scouts camped there...he always personally visited us. He will be missed.

Jared and I still don't want to believe that our long-time friend is gone. When we had breakfast with him and hugged him 'so long' as he headed home this past Spring, we had no idea that it would be the last hug! Some of the sunshine and a lot of the fun of our Florida home is gone...there will never be another head of silver hair like his, or a storyteller as funny! Our thoughts are with each of his family...we feel as if we know you all from the stories and the love he showed for each of you. We really wish that we could be there...we will be in spirit!
Hugs and Prayers,
Jared and Elaine Johnson

To the Family of Jack,
I am so sorry to hear of his passing. My Dad, Dutch Amstutz, worked with Jack at Irving Ready-Mix. When I first met Jack I was a little girl and I had a big crush on him. I always thought he was the most handsome exciting person I had ever known. I think I probably spent the whole night at the company Christmas party staring at him but to afraid to talk to him. May you all find comfort in the kind words written about him and the wonderful memories shared with each of you.
Love & Friendship,

So very sorry to hear about Jack. He was a really great guy, who I got to know though being friends with Ginger. We had many a good time at pony town, as well as working with his ponies at the zoo. I am glad I got to see him a few years back, he hadn't changed a bit. My Mother (Sharon Quickery) also knew him and sends her regrets as well. Rest in Peace Jack.

Saint Peter, open the gate please; Here comes Jack! I'm quite certain that he will liven heaven up just as he did everywhere else he went. He had a presence when he walked into any function. What a great guy! I always enjoyed running into Jack. He would have a couple of good jokes or a funny story. I've known him since he first went to work for Irving and I consider that my good fortune. He had my respect and admiration and he is a friend that I will truly miss. See you later, Jack.
