JOAN W. HARTWIG

JOAN W. HARTWIG, 92, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2022, at Chateau Rehabilitation and Health care Center of Fort Wayne. A daughter of the late Lloyd R. and Mary Ruth (Biddle) Shuler, Joan was a 1948 graduate of Central High School. Joan retired from Navistar after working for 22 years in the payroll department in 1992. She was a devoted member of the Plymouth Congregational Church and a member of the Navistar Alumni. Joan enjoyed bowling and collected owls. She is survived by her daughter, Pam (Steve) Slentz; grandchildren, Courtney (Brad Gallagher) Klopfenstein, Alex Klopfenstein, Cody (Rachael) King, and Lincoln (Kristine) Slentz; and one great-granddaughter, Macie Joan Hall. In addition to both of her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert F. Hartwig; daughter, Cindy King; and two brothers, Lloyd R. Shuler, and Jack Shuler. A Celebration of Life service for Joan is 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 14, 2023, at Klaehn, Fahl, Melton Funeral Home, 6424 Winchester Road, Fort Wayne (IN 46819), with visitation two hours prior.
