Joyce Sprunger Obituary

Joyce Elaine Sprunger, 81, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on September 9, 2024, She was born in Guilford, New York on June 20, 1943. Joyce was the daughter of the late Anton and Lucy Belle (Rosa) Yaeger. Joyce grew up in a large, farming family and graduated from Afton High School in Afton, New York. She moved to Indiana and began employment in banking where she met Stanley Sprunger. They became married on September 24, 1966. They were blessed with the gift of two children Kristine and Lisa. Joyce enjoyed cooking, vegetable gardening, canning and tending to her many flower beds. She enjoyed bird watching, nature and attending auctions sales. Joyce's favorite time of the year were family holidays with Christmas the most wonderful time of the year. Joyce was a stay at home mom during the girls' early years. She was a member at The Chapel, of Fort Wayne. Alzheimer's had robbed her mind, but never her smiles, spirit and love of life. The family extends a big thanks to Coventry Meadows, the Auguste's Cottage Memory Care Wing and the Eleos Hospice for their love, care and devotion to her journey with Alzheimer's. Joyce is survived by her husband of 57 years, Stanley Sprunger; daughters, Kristine Sprunger, Lisa (Steve) Banks; grandson Tristan Banks; sisters, Betty, Joann and Patricia; and brother Lawrence (Bub). She was preceded in death by brothers, Theodore, Harold, Richard, Wesley and Roger, sisters Lucy Esther, Lena, Mary, Ethel and Rita. Funeral Service will be 3 pm, Saturday, September 14, 2024 at FairHaven Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 6557 N. Clinton Street, with calling one hour prior, Pastor Phil Johnson, officiating from The Chapel. Calling also on Friday, September 13, 2024 from 4 pm to 7 pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Joyce's memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or The Chapel.

I knew Joyce for many years. I remember her as being a very happy loving, giving always positive person.!!! She loved her husband and children and grandchildren so so much and talked about them often! I never remember one negative thing coming out of her mouth ever. I especially remember she was always smiling !!!! She is a special person that I will always remember with very fond loving memories! Hugs to her family!!!
