KATHLEEN SUE "KAY" PETERSON

KATHLEEN "KAY" SUE PETERSON, 68, passed away Sunday, Sept. 13, 2015, surrounded by her family. Born in LaSalle, Ill., Kay earned her bachelor degree in Education from Illinois State University. She taught 12 years in elementary schools in Illinois, Indiana, and Virginia. She also was a Realtor with Roth Wearly & Heiny for many years. She was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. She served as past president of Pi Chapter - PSI Iota Xi. She was also active in Women to Women, Girls in Pearls, her parish CHRP group, Arts of the Table, and Dancing with the Fort Wayne Stars. She was an active supporter of the Carriage House in Fort Wayne. Kay enjoyed dancing, traveling, arts and crafts, volunteering, and spending time with her family. Kay had an artistic gift and enjoyed decorating. Surviving are her husband, Karl Peterson of Fort Wayne; son, Kristopher Peterson of Boise, Idaho; sister, Jean Trompeter of Alexandria, Va.; brother-law, Rod Peterson of Champaign, Ill.; and her beloved dog, Kooper. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Kourtney Peterson; and parents, Clarence and Helen Trompeter. Mass of Christian Burial is 10:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 18, 2015, at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, with calling one hour prior. Msgr. John Suezler officiating. Calling also from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 17, 2015, at D.O. McComb & Sons Maplewood Park Funeral Home, 4017 Maplecrest Road, with a rosary service at 4:30 p.m. Burial in Catholic Cemetery, Fort Wayne.
