Kim Pastrick Obituary

Kim Martin Pastrick, 71, of Flagstaff, Arizona, passed away on May 12, 2024, after a hard battle with cancer. Born in Akron, Ohio to Michael and Marilyn Pastrick he was loved by all who knew him and highly regarded as a kind man who really cared about helping others. During his walk on earth he dedicated himself to volunteerism in numerous entities including Hunting for Heroes, Arizona Elk Society, Flagstaff Food Bank, past Chaplin for the Benevolent Order of the Elks, and Officer of Ocean View Ministries in Rocky Point, Mexico.

Kim earned a biochemistry degree from Indiana University, Bloomington where he met and married his wife, Julie. They moved to Arizona where he spent 38 years with Peabody Coal Company as Senior Mining and Blasting Engineer. Many of those years involved flying daily from Flagstaff to Black Mesa on the Peabody plane.

His decades in Flagstaff provided a perfect opportunity for Kim to become a very skilled and admired hunter, fisherman, and more. Kim loved sharing his skills and knowledge with children as well as adults. While owning a boat on Lake Powell for two decades he taught dozens of kids to fish and always caught the most. He also made several Alaskan salmon fishing trips and deep sea fishing was his passion on the Sea of Cortes where he lived with his family part time.

He put family first always nurturing his children and did his best to volunteer in their sports, travel all over the country for hockey with his son and be there for all his daughter's sports. He is survived by his loving wife, Julie, son Brett, daughter Nicolette (Andrew) Maguire and his two grandchildren whom he loved dearly, Emma (5) and Ethan (2) Maguire; his sister Valerie (Dr. Mitchell) Stucky, Fort Wayne, Indiana and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Michael and Marily Pastrick, his sister Deb Blauser, and his brother, Gregory Pastrick.

Adios amigo; we love our Kim. A Celebration of Life will be held at Arizona Snowbowl on Saturday, June 22 at 4pm.

In lieu of flowers donations would be welcomed to the Arizona Elk Society Heroes Rising Outdoors-Disabled Veterans. Condolences can be shared at norvelowensmortuary.com

Dear Julie, Brett and Nicolette, it is with a heavy heart and such sadness I read of Kim´s passing via Bro David this morning. So many treasured memories of having you Hoosier IU friends in Flagstaff, reckless abandon skiing, evenings @ your lovely homes and babysitting Nicolette while you went to Peabody Christmas party. My heart and prayers are with you all and from Tim Ransberger whom I´m visiting in Grand Rapids. you all at a tender time. xoxo, Jackie Goodman

Shoot.. I just heard about this. I haven't seen Kim in probably 50 years but there weren't to many cooler cats in high school than Kim Pastrick. Funny, smart, good looking, friend to jocks and hippies alike. I'm sure he will be missed. Safe travels Kim.

Oh my goodness, I have so many fond memories of the time I spent with Kim over the years. The dinners we shared at the mine when we would stay over when the plane was full, the 2 elk hunts we both drew bull tags for in unit 9, and the fishing in Mexico that was some of the best fishing I have ever done. I will miss you dearly my friend and look forwards to seeing you on the other side. Adios Amigo!
