L. Meier Obituary

L. JAYNE MEIER, 86, died Wednesday, May 12, 2004, at Bluffton Regional Medical Center. Born March 28, 1918, in Bradford, Pa., she was the daughter of the late John Wesley and Lenora Jayne (McKinney) Reigel. She married Edward Oscar Meier, Dec. 29, 1943, in New Orleans; he died in 1978. Mrs. Meier grew up in Bradford, Pa. She graduated from Bradford High School in 1936 and received her Bachelor of Science degree in Education from St. Francis in 1967. She was a homemaker, a member of the Good Shepherd United Methodist Church in Fort Wayne, a 50-year member of the D.A.R., a member of Alpha Delta Omega, and was in charge of the Widow-to-Widow Program in Fort Wayne, for some time. She was an avid reader, especially history. Surviving are daughter, Mrs. William (Ellen) Brock-mann of Bluffton; grandchildren, William Edward (Monica) Brockmann of Indianapolis, Rebecca Jayne Brockmann of Bloomington; and sister, Bertha Cooke of Fort Wayne. Service is 11:30 a.m. Friday at Thoma/Rich, Hewitt & Chaney Funeral Home in Bluffton with the Rev. Gary Lewis officiating. Calling is from 10 a.m. until time of the service at 11:30 a.m. Burial at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Fort Wayne. Memorials to the River Terrace Estates or the Creative Arts Council.
